Hogwarts: A rush week

Hi everybody!
So the GLO that I am rushing now does rush events apart from all the other Greek organizations on campus. So I decided instead of learning about all the different houses of Hogwarts (GLOs) I would instead be trying to get my Hogwarts acceptance letter!

The first 2 days of rush have already passed and I attended the events on both days the first was a sporting type event (trying not to out myself...someone tell me if this becomes dangerous, please?) and since I didn't have my quidditch robes handy I wore jeans, nice tennis shoes and a t shirt.

Day 2 was an inside event where we ate snacks and sat in groups with the current members and rushees(is that what its called?) and played games and talked just trying to understand each other better. For this I wore nicer clothes nothing major just dressed up casual since I wouldn't be playing quidditch or anything today.

I really like most of the prospective Hogwarts students and current Hogwarts students (members) that I've met and hope that they like me too! Everyone seems so nice and they laugh at my jokes and they all just seem like people I would like to hang out with even if I wasn't accepted to the organization. Hopefully this works out I never got my Hogwarts letter when I was 11 this is the next best thing right?

I think you've mixed your metaphors. Hogwarts is the sorority, not the school?

Good luck to you! Informal rush is a very different process than formal, and although it has its drawbacks one benefit is you really get to know the chapter members better prior to receiving your bid.

3rd day

The event today was awesome! I talked to four or five different members and we talked about classes and their philanthropy and just about everything really. I had a super long discussion with one of the girls and we found out that we both really like same group and have a bunch of other things in common it was just really fun.
We also talked about the day that we get our bids and that is just terrifying to me but I have to think positive thoughts!
I do have a question though I have talked to most of the members at least a little, generally just like hi bye stuff, but I've talked to about 3 or 4 people more in dept. I would like to get to know the girls that I clicked with more but I don't want to not talk to the others. What would you recommend doing?

When you are at an event you need to "work the room." You enter a conversation, talk for a few minutes. If you are not introduced to another member, politely disengage and move on to someone else. If you feel like you're really clicking with the person with whom you are speaking, ask her to introduce you around.

If you're talking to 3 or 4 women per event, you're doing just fine. Unless it's a formal NPC rush environment, there's only so much getting up and walking away you can do without looking weird or rude.
