recruitment for san diego state?

I am wondering what greek life is like at san diego state university..if it is a huge part of the school or not so much. also what there recruitment process is like, how many girls typically rush, and how many girls live in the house and such. also how likely it would be for a sophomore going through formal recruitment would be to get into a house. any answers to these questions would be great and help me out tremendously.

SDSU has a great greek system, very positive and panhellenically oriented. The last two years the recruitment numbers have been very high and each house took 81 new members. ( The same size as many houses) however, DZ came on in the Spring which should help in reducing new member class size. Last year I believe 750 women went through recruitment for 9 houses. The houses on the SDSU campus are:

Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Phi
Pi Beta Phi
Delta Gamma
Delta Zeta
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Delta
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Epsilon Phi

hmmm I think I'm missing one. You can find more information about recruitment on the SDSU web site.
Not all houses need recs- however, I think it doesn't hurt.

I hope this small bit of information was helpful

Are you going to be transferring to San Diego State or Oregon??

I hope you are not basing your decision on which university would be easier to get a bid from.

Merry got most of the info down. I will add that the recruitment process is a bit overwhelming...like we said, there's 700+ girls rushing. Our recruitment is set up like most everyone else's: fall formal recruitment, mostly afternoon/evening visits, visit all the houses over the space of a week, bid day.

SDSU recruitment is semi-competitive, but a sophomore has a decent chance of getting a bid. I'd be more worried about you getting in to the university itself - we don't take sophomore transfers. SDSU only admits first time freshmen (no college credits earned) and junior transfers (60 semester units completed). I'm sorry to tell you that, if you are transferring as a sophomore, you will not be attending SDSU.

That said, SDSU recruitment is mostly geared to freshmen and sophomores; but, a handful of juniors do find homes during recruitment.

Each house has approximately 30 girls living in. Each chapter determines their own polices about who gets to live in and when.
