recruitment Help
I know a lot of people have asked this before, but I am really confused the NPC website for Sam Houston State University in Texas lists the dress attire as capris, khaki pants, or a casual skirt would be good for this day. Comfortable shoes are also important because this is the longest day. Take care in picking outfits that are comfortable to move around in. however, I read on here that some schools give out shirts the first day and I didn’t want to be the one to walk around in a t-shirt and dressy bermuda shorts so I called the office and asked, I was told that we are supposed to were a school shirt one we go out and buy on our own) and some capris.
My first question is if I should wear the stylish distressed capris or if I should wear a pair of nice khaki capris, because the shirt I'll probably be wearing is not a fancy one, it will sot likely be a plain college shirt with SHSU on the front (kind of a step down form a dressy shirt and bermudas but oh well)
The person then went on to tell me that is I did join a sorority they would give me a shirt and in the little time they gave me (his words) I changed and then rush the hill to the house where we all would have a sleepover.
?#2 Do you know if we'll be sleeping in our rush shirts or if we are supposed to bring our stuff too like a toothbrush, clothes for the night and the next day.
My recruitment starts on the 15th of August; I'd really appreciate any help

I don't think SHSU gives out Panhelenic recruitment tee shirts for girls to wear to the first round.
I think the man on the phone was referring to Bid Night, at which (if you receive a bid) would get a shirt with your sorority letters/name on it for the bid night celebration. If the sorority has a sleepver for you guys that night I'm pretty sure they won't have you sleep in it.

I honestly cannot answer some of your questions, but I would advise against wearing "distressed" anything at any point. You may have bought them with frayed edges, but they may present the image that you cannot afford decent clothes. And although we all claim it shouldent matter, it does, and you need to present the image that even if you don't have money to toss around, you consider Rush important enough to dress well.
As for bringing stuff for overnight, as long as you get a shower and use antiperspirant the day before, I doubt your clothes will be in bad shape if you wear the same outfit two days running, especially if you only change into sorority clothes the night before. When I was in the equivalent of JROTC, I went 2 weeks without a change of kit and although we all stank, nobody complained.

I would say wear some comfortable khaki capris or pants and a flattering fitted solid colored t-shirt. Kind of like an outfit you would see in a Gap commercial. Then wear some comfortable flats that match. I suggest you wear something that is not to fancy but not too I laid back. Think simple and classy, dont try to over complicate your outfit.
If they do give you a t-shirt to wear just try to make it look good with what you have on (tuck in, tie up in the back, etc.).
Next, if you do get a bid and that chapter is having a sleepover I am sure they would either have you go back and get what you need or make some kind of accommodation. Don't go to bid day with a tooth brush and sleep bag (unless you were told to bring it) cause that would just be weird.

Yes, this is fabulous advice. Do wear the same outfit two days in a row at recruitment. I am sure you will stand out, and people will remember you.
