I don't know what you have used in the past but in three years I was active we used pretty much the same small items (bumper stickers, cups, pens, pencils, waterbottles)etc and changed what they were put in. One year we gave baskets with fabric or tissue paper in our colors, one year we did tote bags with our letters (these were actually very handy, the pledges used them to carry their stuff to meeting) and one year we decorated silver buckets (from Lowe's or somewhere like that) with paint. They turned out very cute! Good Luck!

I know how you feel. I think Heather hit on something in her message, be creative with the package it comes in. I have seen balloon wraps, painted buckets/bins, custom backpacks with Alpha Phi letters embroidered on them then filled with A-Phi stuff.
I have seen some neat sorority beanie-baby type stuffed animals that have sorority letters embroidered on them.
One thing to remember though, is that while it's the same old stuff to us, to the new members it's brand new, and whatever you end of giving them, they'll love! They are going to be so excited to get anything with their letters/symbols on it.
Greek Love,
Jen

we recently bought these greek metal stud tees and we love it! everyone asks us where we got it. we got it at www.mygreekletters.com- they have rhinestone tees too. we got a group discount so that helped. they have iron on embroidered greek letters too. we are thinking of using them on tote bags.

TechAPhi is right, it is old stuff to us, but to those girls who just opened there bid card...this is the FIRST thing with thier letters that they are going to get. I remember we got a cup, a pen, stationary, bumper sticket(wich is really great because as soon as they reach the car, it IMMEDIATELY gets slapped on the back-rain or shine) All in a cute basket lined in red. But other gifts are keychains(also used immediatly) a stuffed mascot(panda for us). I think a good thing to include in the "basket" (if affordable) is a disposable camara-I know I wish I had one for our bid day(skating party-imagine that!!!)

Backpacks were always a hit on my campus and a great way to advertise to prospective rushees. I carried my bid day backpack until it fell apart--about 2 years.
T-shirts, cups, water bottles-- like everyone has said--it may be old to us, but the new members are so excited to get ANYTHING with their letters on it.

We always give the new members recruitment shirts, and last year we gave them key chains, and candies in our colours ( ie. purple and yellow jelly beans). We also give them our sorority's flower (iris).
