Question
Hey yall !
So I just called Augusta State and asked questions about their recruitment because I was interested in rushing if I do decide to go up there for college. However, the lady I talked to did not know a single thing and I asked to speak to her boss, who I figured would know more about it since she is in charge of student activities. Yet, neither one of them knew anything about recruitment etc..
I asked if there was a Panhellenic representative in the office that I could talk too and they said there wasn not a rep. From reading GC, however, if there are 2 or more sororities isn't there supposed to be a Panhellenic Council? Augusta State has ZTA, ADPi, and Phi Mu is colonizing next fall.
Any advice or suggestions on what I should do next?

What about contacting the individual chapters that are currently active on campus? Could it be possible that this campus only has informal recruitment? The chapters on campus should be able to give you some guidance.

Google "Augusta State, Zeta Tau Alpha". Look at their recruitment page. They have details regarding their Fall 2008 formal recruitment schedule, including the theme for each round and what you should wear.
I would also suggest contacting the individual chapters with specific questions if you're not finding much help through the school.

they may very well be in the process of forming their panhellenic council-it takes time-by-laws to write, recruitment rules to decide, etc. if memory serves, adpi is a recent addition to the campus.

That's exactly what I was going to say. ADPi is VERY recent. And a Panhellenic council cannot be formed until there is more than one group.

Yeah, it takes a little while to get Panhellenic going. When my chapter came to campus, we started Panhel on our campus with the one other NPC chapter. We were installed in April 2007, and the first formal recruitment was Fall 2008. Starting Panhellenic from scratch is a TON of work.

They'll probably have more info about recruitment available closer to fall. It's still a bit early for them to know much about recruitment 2009, since it's a little far off.

I would actually strongly advise AGAINST emailing the individual chapters. Doing so, at some campuses, might be seen as creepy.
Since the campus is new to having more than one NPC sorority, they are probably also still working out the logistics of how their formal recruitment will be structured in 2009. I would recommend watching the student life website as well as the ZTA website for more info.
And also, try calling the student life office in the spring or summer when things will be more organized.
