Breastfeeding at 7 yrs???
So apparently this woman has choosen to breastfeed her children regardless of their age. She claims that the child should "choose" when it's time to stop breastfeeding.
Now I know that prolonged breast feeding is shown to have increased benefits in some children but 7 years is OD to say the least.

7 YEARS?!?
I didn't make the 7 month mark with my son. I can see breastfeeding to about age 2 at the most. IDK, once the kid can ask for it, there's a creepiness factor. You start to wonder whose needs are being met.

This kid is 7 and still breastfeeding.....he is scarred for life. He will never have a normal relationship with other women.

It's a little girl lol
Two sisters, the oldest was breastfed til the age of five. Her younger sister still requests to be breastfeed at age seven. They also gave their mothers' breasts names

Moms I know follow this rule: when you can ask for it, it's time to stop. No one I know breastfed their kids after around age 2.
Kids are going to continue to do what they know and are comfortable with. Mom has to be the one to decide when it is no longer appropriate to do some things because the kid generally does not know. It's the same principle with things like potty training. The kid will continue to use diapers until you decide it is time to start using the potty.

blech. Our family knew someone like that. The son was six and still being breastfed. We often wondered if she was going to go to college with him.

There is no way I could come home from work and see my 6 yr old son in my wifes arms breast feeding. I say give the lil dude some extra veggies and tell him to "man up."

At what point does a mother cease to produce milk anyway?

But I did almost barf after reading how the woman in this link TRIED to make cheese out of her own breastmilk that was stored in the fridge http://www.indrani.net/index.php?q=2...st_milk_cheese. It's not possible apparently but it's gross that she tried to.

WTF
Breastmilk cheese, really though?

I bet she'd try ferment her own urine to make wine if she were so "inspired".

These kids are so messed up.

When a mom stops feeding the milk will dry up on its own. If she never stops feeding, the body won't stop producing.

I could have sworn we talked about this last year because I recall bringing up a woman in the neighborhood where I grew up. We were within the city limits of Atlanta, but not in a wealthy neighborhood by any means. This woman was a professional wet nurse for various wealthy women in the area. She had her son nursing until he was older, like 8 or 9.
Women produce milk as long as milk continues to be expressed (naturally or by pump).
