Soror, I hear you. If the school is sticking to the policy that they say that they are - upholding a rule that would prevent others from other districts from coming in and usurping the position from those in the district, in a way, the same logic would seem to apply to someone who comes in to graduate but is actually a member of a different "starting" class at the high school. I wonder if they'd be willing to make her valedictorian of her actual class...and give her the title/scholarship but make it for next year if she'd still be the winner. That seems fair...and she'd still get the scholarship...and she'd still be competing against those who are truly in her high school class.
Besides, in a way, I almost wonder if the classes that were taken in middle school were the same as the classes that were taken at the high school.
I feel sorry for her though...especially because she was given improper information by her counselor. And if her gpa is that high, she absolutely deserves the right to be valedictorian, at least at some point in her educational career. Either this year or next.
