sorority letter dishes?
I am trying to buy plates/dinnerware for a wedding gift that have sorority letters on them and can't find any. Any suggestions on a website to get that kind of thing?

I don't know of any place that does them - wish I did. You might try looking on e-bay - back in the day many houses had lettered/crested plates, and sometimes they show up on e-bay. Good luck.

How about finding a place that does glass etching and having your letters or crest etched on glass dessert plates? Things Remembered might be a start.
Some sororities used to offer tea cups to collect. They either had the crest, letters, symbols or flowers, and each year a different one was offered. I'd love to see that tradition revived...even though my pink carnation wedding china has been used exactly twice in almost 20 years! I have this fantasy of some day living in a house with white carpet where I sit and have my tea in real tea cups...and have my Gamma Phi friends over for dessert on china plates!

I've never heard of getting a couple a set of dishes that have sorority letters (or fraternity letters, for that matter) on them. Is this something the bride asked for, or are you just guessing she'd like them? If she asked for it, good luck in your search. If not, I think I'd look into something else; lettered wedding gifts just seems wrong to me.
(I'm not really sure why I'm bothering to answer; this screams of stealth spam. I'm expecting your alter ego to show up with the magical link any time now.)

Exactly.
If this is a real/legitimate question, I would consider a different gift. If you really want to etch some letters on something, how about the couples monogram?
I love my GLO, and continue to be involved as an alum. However, I can't think of a single occasion where I would want to serve guests on dishes that had my sorority letters on it. Perhaps the "once in a blue moon" where I am hostess for our alumnae group... but really... it is just not a practical gift, and may even border on cheeseball.
As I have gotten older, my love for my organization grows stronger, but my desire to have trinkets around my house with the letters has waned. Other than jewelry I do not own anything with the letters on them.
But, like Sydney... I am waiting for the spam to pop up.

Let's hijack the thread from the spammers!
Chi Omega headquarters has some examples of beautiful vases that one chapter used to always give their brides.

Why thank you for noticing! We refer to them as the Psi goblets. They are Beleek Irish China and were given to brides from Psi Chapter (Univ. of Arkansas) and at least on one occassion to a member of another chapter. The Chi Omega archives possess seven of the goblets -- all in a shade of light green. No one knows how many were presented, but apparently they were also made in shades of cranberry and light blue. Around the top of the goblet are Chi Omega words and symbols in gold.
I'll see if I can post a picture!

So pretty - it's a shame they don't still give them. I guess they went out of fashion. I also love the Chi Omega handkerchiefs - apparently it used to be the tradition for a big sister to give her little sister an embroidered handkerchief to be used to wrap her wedding bouquet.

That is such a cool tradition and the picture is really beautiful!
On a side note, sometimes I wonder if we have all become a little too jaded after reading so many spam threads that we jump on people who really aren't spammers...I only say that because I know that the Tri Delts at Wisconsin sometimes call themselves "wisco deltas" and I would be surprised if some random internet spammer was in on that name. Then again, maybe I'm being naiive...

Ok, so I'm late to the ball, but just had to comment. They're not formal dishes, but www.merrybelles.com has some neat options for ceramic/stoneware items with Greek letters. Hubby and I have our red/buff roses things as well as violets alongside my squirrels and his lions (see a theme here?). If GLO is as important to bride & groom as it is to you, then go for it. Otherwise, you might consider a shower gift with letters rather than your formal wedding gift.
