Rush Clothes

Hi, I am sending my daughter to UVA and really would like for her to rush. What kind of outfits will she need to rush. We live in Florida and are not use to the Virginia climate. We have no clue on what to buy for winter wear and clothing for rush. Thanks

I am not familiar with UVA rush, but I would definitely look at the UVA website for Greek life and see what is suggested there. That info is usually pretty helpful and accurate. Also, you might search online for some panhellenic groups in Virginia(try Richmond, for example) that provide helpful info to girls going through rush. These groups usually hold informative meetings in the spring and often go over rec info, what to wear, etc. Although you can't attend, the info may be online or there may be a contact person listed.
There may be a UVA person on here who can help with more details, but that gets you started!

I can't speak to UVA specifically; I went to W&L.

One thing I will say is don't hesitate to dress warm. W&L has deferred January recruitment like UVA and it is COLD in the Virginia mountains in the winter. Wear a warm coat and scarf and everything. The sororities will have planned ahead to accommodate coats and such.

Other than that, definitely follow the guidelines on the UVA website or recruitment materials - you'll probably get a mailing in the summer and there will probably be "Meet the Greeks" or informational-type events in the fall semester.
