Zsa Zsa Gabor refuses operation and goes home

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Zsa Zsa Gabor, the 93-year-old Hollywood star who had been hospitalized due to complications from a broken hip, refused a new operation and was released from hospital and allowed to go home, her publicist has said.

John Blanchette said doctors were ready to perform a liver operation, but gave up on the idea after the actress insisted she wanted to return to her Bel Air home.

Gabor on Sunday had called a priest into her hospital room for her last rites.

A spokesman for Gabor's daughter Francesca Hilton said all that Sunday the actress had been asking to be released from hospital.

"She wanted to be home. She was tired of it," Ed Lozzi said.

Gabor was taken to Ronald Reagan hospital on July 17 after she broke her hip getting out of bed. She was given an artificial hip and released, only to be readmitted two days later for blood clot surgery.

I know she's 93 years old, but it's still terrible to see her in the condition she's in (photo here)

I'm with you on this one. Bless her heart. I can't blame her for not wanting to be bothered anymore. If she's 93, and was still in great health, then maybe, ... but if her health is fading, what is the point of prolonging a life just to continue suffering?

Hmmm....liver surgery at 93. I don't blame her for going home. No use suffering more than you have to. Any liver surgery is a big surgery at any age.

I say good for her. Enough already. She should be comfortable and enjoy her time at home. She might well live longer this way, anyway.

If she's lucid enough to demand to be taken home, BY ALL MEANS let the woman be in peace!

Let the dear lady make her choices. May she go with the angels holding her hand, and her loved ones telling her goodbye at her bedside.

Zsa Zsa and her sisters along with their mother escaped from a bad situation in Europe and came to this country with little but their beauty and brains.

My mother always used to say that the Gabor sisters kept on a little weight because it plumped out the wrinkles in their faces. Ha!

THAT photo is how she would want to be remembered, not strapped to a guerney! I always loved her talking about being a good housekeeper - every time she got divorced, she kept the house.

As for the disorientation, it could be something as simple as a UTI, but I hope her husband allows her the dignity of dying the way she'd like. And that she has a doctor who's liberal with pain pills - liver disease can be pretty nasty.

You brightened our world in your own special way, Zsa Zsa dahling.
