Question: Is this for a girlfriend? Or is it for a sister/mom/friend? Your previous gifts sound really nice. I don't know about the other girls here, but I absolutely love getting personalized gifts. Like a picture frame of the two of you engraved with a cute message, or maybe a nice jewelry box that's engraved. I go nuts for those kinn
da gifts!

I am assuming you have a lot of disposable income, or you are a hell of a bargain hunter, because you haven't been buying cheap.

I don't know how much a gucci bag costs, but I imagine you wouldn't have mentioned it unles it was reasonably exensive?

Usually the rule of thumb is: You can always spend more, but can never go cheaper, because she will will notice.

In the past, when I am dating, I have a habit of buying fairly frequent "just thinking of you gifts." You would think that would deserve an awwwww. . .

Well then a major holiday came around I gave her a reasonable gift, but she was actually upset that she didn't get more.

I think her brother may have told me that she expected more, especially considering that I would giver her nice gifts for no reason (although not on the Tiffany Necklace level).

She actually spent more than I did at that holiday. Which annoyed her .

Although she wasn't the random gift giver except for seemingly unending stream of HallMark cards . . .

I have owed HallMark a lot over the years, it has allowed several girls to tell me how they feel using the heartfelt words of someone else.

Someone who is probably an over-the-hill relationship failure. Is HallMark an emotional middleman in your relationship? There is a Support Group I think . . .

But alas, I digress.

The summary lesson that I learned is you can't start buying less expensive presents, especially for a person (woman) that venerates holidays. It just goes over about as well as verbally attacking her mom (a bad idea even if she hates her).

So you have ruined the whole Cutesy-Romantic-Present option for yourself early in your relationship, unless its a Cutesy-Romantic-Present with a large price tag, like a dinner at a romantic but expensive restaurant.

So ladies . . . what would be a nice classy present for a girl that expects something on the level of a Tiffaany Necklace?

In keeping with the Tiffany necklace and Gucci bag, I would suggest a nice pair of diamond earrings. Classy, tasteful and elegant.

I don't know. I would drop dead of a heart attack if any guy bought me a present that expensive. I wouldn't even feel right getting something that expensive from a guy unless we were engaged (or his name was Bill Gates, and a Tiffany necklace to him is like a penny on the sidewalk to me).

Valkyrie's idea of the diamond earrings is excellent But since you really shouldn't get anything cheaper than the previous present, maybe diamond earrings would be raising the bar a little too high?

How about a Gucci wallet to match the bag? Then the next occasion get the earrings

I would say any kind of jewelry would work just fine! Girls love getting jewelry. Or, since y'all are French, how about a bottle of perfume? All the French girls I ever met had loads of it (they're the ones who got me started on it, too--blame them!), but I'm talking a really expensive kind, like that Lolita whatever...I can't remember the name of it, but it's in the bottle shaped like an apple. Or hey, what about a bracelet to match that necklace? Or a tennis bracelet with sapphires or rubies or some other pretty rock in it? Just don't get her a vacuum or anything like that, and you'll be just fine!

I'm full of ideas tonight.

Vibrator? It'd better be a good one.

Yeah, I think you've gotten yourself into a bit of a quagmire here. Some sort of jewelry... something simple and engraved.

Here's what you do mon ami. You give her an apron and tell her to make you a sandwich. If she screams, you smack her and tell her you're going to pick up a Parisian prostitute, because prostitutes only have a 35 hour government-supported work week and spend the rest of their time cooking for their men.

--If you really want to spoil her, you can get "Owned by [Insert name her]" sewn on her apron.

How about a day at a spa or some kind of spa package. I would think just about anyone would love that!
