Hey all....
What's up, folks?
Well, I decided to poke my head through to say that I am now a Neophyte to A Phi O! I'm so excited to finally start my journey to brotherhood. By the way, I pledged through the Iota Rho chapter at Florida State. I hope that I will get to see soon of y'all at Nationals and if you are in Section 75 (or 74), I hope to see y'all in Tallahassee! And congrats to any other Spring '08 Neo!
L and R,
Cynthia

Thanks everyone.
Michael, my initiation is Saturday so I can't wait to go crazy and buy cute A Phi O things.
Elyssa, I am feeling the effects of my journey so far and I am sure the wait is well worth it! :-)

Does Florida State have a nearby greek store that stocks Alpha Phi Omega stuff?

I wish our local store did!! They claim to represent every greek group on campus, but what they REALLY mean is every "social" group! Oh, if they only knew how social we are!
I've rallied on behalf of my chapter, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Short of ordering copious amounts of stuff from National and opening my own little A Phi O store at home, I don't know what to do for the kids. (I've thought about doing it but don't know if National would allow it and I really cannot afford it, but have considered a home equity loan to do so!)

Sweetie, it only gets better!! Savor every minute and relive them every day and next semester, find two more students as enthusiastic as you are and tell them all about A Phi O (without revealing the secret stuff, natch!) and get them to become two new pledges!! This is something I encourage all my kids to do....thereby ensuring the strength of the chapter in years to come!!
Most importantly....live the cardinal principals....they are what makes us who we are "men of Alpha Phi Omega" and may we always be!!
YiLFS,
Elyssa

Either for the rest of the semester, or for the Fall semester, have the entire chapter keep track of what they do buy and where. If you want to stay *relatively* local, talk to Epsilon Mu over at Maryland-College Park, I haven't heard any major complaints from the chapter about the places they shop. (About a half a mile south of campus on US-1, I think)
Nothing changes minds at businesses like that than actual receipts.

Yessir! We have two stores but it's kinda weird that most of Kappa Delta shops at one near FAMU and we shop at the one near (or on campus) here at FSU. I know I used to go to both! I am probably going to go today to pick up a couple of things.
Anyway, I am finally waking up from INITIATION!!!! I am officially a brother now so HEY BROTHERS! :-D

Congrats on being a brother!
Well, probably some of it has to do with what gets stocked. For example, prior to 5 years ago I wouldn't have expected the one at FSU to have included graduation kente cloths, but the one over near FAMU to do so.
I did get quite an education of that sort of thing when I went to "The Guild" a greek shop near Howard University. (Note, I could myself as having started at ground zero in knowledge in that at graduation, there may be some schools out there farther culturally from the HBCUs than Carnegie-Mellon, but not many)
BTW, I wonder where the brothers at Tallahassee Community College shopped, I guess the one near FAMU.
