I joined ADPi at U of A (Yeah to my chapter recolonizing!!!!) so a few tips...
1. It's August for recruitment. Sundresses and sandels would be a good thing (although greek life will send you a book with details on recruitment).
2. Every chapter has a house, so be prepared for it to be "expensive". As a new member your dues will be more (initiation fees, 1st time fees, etc...). You will then be paying to either live in the house or able to use the house (I'm assuming the latter because I had to pay a parlour fee, it was less than the "live in" fee). Then you will be paying for food. If I remember correctly, some chapters will have meal plans (like you are only paying for Monday night dinner, i.e. chapter dinner, or you are just paying for lunches and Monday night dinner, you get the picture). Basically I would guesstimate that your first semester costs will be about 2000-4000 and after that probably about 1500-3500 a semester (that is per chapter).
3. I would definately recommend recommendations. I say this because ADPi was originally supposed to recolonize next fall but U of A wanted us back sooner, so we are coming back this fall. This is because of A) the new release figures B) the increase of girls going through recruitment C) the increase of girls bidding a house (and therefore quota and house totals have gone up). So with as many girls going through recruitment recommendations will just help to put your "face out there" for chapters to look for you.
4. My biggest piece of advice is NEVER, NEVER, NEVER judge a book by it's cover. U of A has amazing chapters! You have so many to choose from. I knew too many friends from high school who literally looked at the outside of the house as their determination of whether they would like the chapter or not. I get that rush can be shallow, but basically "ousting" a chapter because of their house is pretty stupid.
For the most part, the houses are pretty old. Chi-O's house is now 10 years old. SK has the newest one (actually on greek row) and I would say it's about 4 years old. DG (which is across the street from us) was redoing the outside of their house (and probably the inside) 3-4 years ago and we're obviously fixing ours up.
Getting back to the point, LOL, really talk to the sisters. I know those first two days where you meet all the chapters it's "boom, boom, boom, boom, boom" are crazy. If you can, I recommend getting a small notebook so that in between houses you can immediately write down your thoughts on the house, that way making cuts will be easier for you.
Also, try not to get too involved with the tent talk. PNM's are going to have their favorites and talk. Follow your heart and follow your gut. You want to find the house that is best for you!!!!!
I'm sorry this is so long

. If I can answer any questions for you please feel free to PM me.
ETA: I don't live in Tucson, it's been a while since I've been to greek row or the houses, so I'm obviously "guessing", if I'm wrong on any of the information I've given please, nicely, point it out
