Miami Memorial Day Weekend
Does anyone happen to know of any good hotels to stay in, in South Beach for Memorial Day weekend? Has anyone gone in the past, or is anyone going this year? A couple of my friends and I are planning to go this year. I'm just looking for a few suggestions. Thanks!

Two nice hotels on SoBe are the National and the Shore Club.

Miami is not the spot for heterosexual black women on Memorial Day Weekend.
Trust me on this.

I'm headed there in March and staying at the Loews Hotel. Pretty good reviews on Tripadvisor.

As a former South Florida resident I can confirm that there's some truth to what Sensuret says. At the same time, it's not an absolute. I wouldn't cancel the trip. I'm a het black woman and loved living there. There are plenty of places where you will meet some (presumably) straight men. Not to mention, you can always make a quick drive north to Broward County to party too (Hollywood and Ft. Lauderdale). If you can manage the crowds, Memorial Day is as good a time as any to be in SoFla.

Oh, I'm sure it's a wonderful place! One of my (APO) neos lives there and I haven't made it to visit yet.
If she goes, she should check out this site to make sure she knows where my team will be partying, lol: http://www.sizzlemiami.com/
I tell people the same thing about Memorial Day in DC -- it's the only time of year where our biggest clubs have gay nights.
Nothing wrong with it obviously, but I hate for a woman to come and get all annoyed cuz all the hotties are gay.

My girls and I went last year, we stayed at The Palms. It was very nice. The back of the hotel led you straight onto the beach.
We also found some heterosexual eye-candy too amongst other things.
Make sure to go to Wet Willie's and get an Attitude Improvement.

I was in Miami for Memorial Day weekend back in 2005. It was a nightmare. There were plenty of straight men there, but it was like they were in heat. You couldn't even make it down the block w/o getting propositioned, groped, and/or videotaped. I will NEVER do that again.
However, we actually stayed at the Radisson in downtown Miami. It was a headache to get to and from South Beach, but it was a beautiful hotel and very nice to escape the madness.

I currently live in Miami. Feel Free to PM for specific questions/help with things. I have seen a lot ot out of towners get hotel rooms on 'South Beach' only to find out there are on the middle/north side of the beach.

I went to Miami Memorial Weekend in 2006, and it was definitely a grope fest like someone else said. There were a lot of heterosexual men or at least a lot of men posing as heterosexual. There were also a lot of people who should've at least hit the gym before coming and show their behinds. (the women mostly..). I would recommend reserving table service at clubs you want to go to or be prepared to stand in line all night. Also by the time you get up to the front of the line, you'll probably be paying the same amount as table service anyway (w/o the table or bottles), especially Sat and Sun night, Also, a lot of people were acting a fool cause I saw many arrests and heard about broad day light robberies. I should've known something was up when I landed in Miami and everybody was trying to LEAVE Miami that weekend. Call me bourgie, but I'm going to Vegas this year. I can stay at a better hotel and go to better clubs. Regardless of what you choose to do, be safe.

What is there to do as a couple? My honey and I were talking about going to Miami for Memorial Day weekend as well. We aren't really the club couple (bruh just can't dance), but we do enjoy being outdoors.

In 06 I stayed at Loews and it was lovely. It is kind of pricey so try to go through a travel agent. Ours got us a deep discount and we were so happy that we stayed there.
