I don't know how much you are planning to spend, but if it is reasonable, get him a gift certificate for a massage. If that is too expensive, you might be able to get just a neck and shoulder rub or something for less money. Anyway, it is a good gift because it is the type of thing that everyone wants, but wouldn't buy for themself. Plus, even if by some off chance someone else got him the same thing, he could still use it.

my 2 cents

Don't know if you could do this with so little notice, but I know that each graduating class at Princeton has their own distinct orange and black tartan pattern that they have made into jackets, hats, ties, etc. Maybe ask his mom where you could purchase something? Moms always seem to know these things.

If that's not possible, the "nice pen" is always a good standby gift. Maybe one of the ones Tiffany and Co. carries?

Have a keychain or flask engraved with the name of his eating club maybe?

Is he going to graduate school? If so, how about a sweatshirt or ball cap with that school's name on it?

Whew, I'm tapped! Guys ARE tough to shop for; hope I could help at least a little!

I don't know how impersonal this gift would be, but a nice, zip-up planner would be helpful. Depending on if this guy is very organized or not, it will come in handy when he enters the work force.
I know a lot of guys like those palm piolets too. I don't know what those run, so I just thought I'd suggest it.
