Arrow MTV emailed me...

MTV emailed me...but it had nothing to do with greek life.. I had emailed them a while back (before I saw what a disaster SL was) and was interested in being on a show (True Life), so I emailed them my story..

They emailed me back asking for my phone number because they want to talk to me about it, because 'it's very interesting'.

What does everyone think??

What would be the theme of your "True Life" story?

I guess that's what would determine what I thought about it.

Question

Here's my take....

Okay, they want to film a story about YOUR life....how much "editorial" control do you have? Do you get to say what is in the final version? Remember they are going for RATINGS, not TRUE LIFE..(I've never seen it but I'm guessing....)

Given that YOU alone won't be in the story, it will cover your family or close friends, I presume?? How would they feel about it?

You've read the comments about Sorority Life..how would you feel if your life story was the subject of a GC thread?

its a true life story about adoption....im adopted...lol thats pretty much all there is to say, i mean i dont even know what the details are other than they want to know my story..

and i think it'd be the bomb to have my story be a thread on GC.. because really, theres not too much creative editing you can do to a topic like that... i mean, i talk to the people, i go to see them, bare bones, thats the end of the story...ive already talked to them before...so its not like its going to be this big drama where they dont want to hear from me an shit hits the fan because of it.. ya know??

i just dont know what to think i guess

If it's about adoption, I say go for it. They have done a few pretty decent "True Life" episodes.

I would NOT let them know that you are in a sorority, or they might want you to do a different series of "True Life." From what I hear, they are trying anything to get the next season of Sorority Life in gear because they are having a much harder time with it.

I say go for it, especially because it is about adoption. As long as your parents (birth & adoptive) are ok with it as well as the rest of your family. If you are comfortable sharing your experience I think it could turn out nicely. I've actually never seen True Life, so I don't have an opinion on the show. But it couldn't hurt to talk to the MTV people and get more information.

Don't worry, I don't have any intentions of mentioning anything greek, and if it came down to me doing it, I'm sure as a part of 'getting to know me' it would show my house or something... and I'd probably take down the greek stuff in my room.. which is shitty because I should be proud of my sisters, which I am, but I don't need any drama with emteevee

From what I've seen of "True Life," it is definitely more true to life and kinder to its subjects than most of MTV's other reality shows are. Of course, that seems to depend on the particular episode's theme -- the two girls in "Plastic Surgery" weren't portrayed a great light, but all the people in "I'm a Little Person" seemed to be shown in a relatively non-biased/even positive way. I don't think MTV would try to put a negative spin on a show about adoption, so I think you'd be okay. If I were you I'd at least look into it further -- it could be a really great experience for you!

I would say go for it. I've been pretty satisfied with most of MTVs True Life shows. If they pick you let us know so we can all watch
