I've been absent for awhile now from greek chat because of that nasty little bug that went around last month and because of trying to catch up in school! So i get back on and goodness there is so much negativity and so much sad news
I figured that there was a need for positivity! Personally, im not in a GLO but im hoping to rush in the fall, but i did go through informal recruitment and the one thing i loved hearing the most was favorite or memorable moments that the sisters had experienced while being an active. I'm such a sucker for these stories.
One that i really thought was very sweet was about this girl who transferred from a university up north to our university (in Texas). She was telling me how nervous she was when she called up the president of the chapter telling her she was transferring in. So the day came for her to meet the girls and it just so happened to be a chapter meeting night. She said she sat in the back and she kept getting confused looked from the other actives but she didnt say anything except polite hellos and the actives were too polite to ask who she was and what was she doing in their chapter meeting! So at the end of the meeting the president makes an announcement about her and has her stand up and introduce herself! After the meeting was over she said that most of the girls came and introduced themselves and a bunch of them invited her to eat dinner with them on the spot! She said after that night she said really did understand what it meant to be sister in her organization in that aspect, being able to go anywhere and have something in common and be accepted as part of another family.
Sigh, im such a sucker but i loved that story. I'd love for others to share some stories! It doesnt have to be like the one i told and it doesnt have to be when you were an active, just if something pops into your mind, i know we'd all love to hear! Especially those lurkers! hahaha i definitely was one of those!
