In this thread, we list things that I want for my birthday.

What do I want for my birthday? So far, I have a bunch of books at Amazon.com, but I can't think of anything I need, and people are going to want to buy me things, so what kind of frivolous things can I ask for?

(truth be told, I would be very happy if everyone just bought me books, but it seems some of my friends/family/lovers don't like buying me paperbacks EVERY year)

My brithday is in 2 weeks.

I asked my family for either a digital camera or an MP3 player.

I'll probably get money. While that's not bad, I want something I can open. Otherwise I'll buy shoes and I really don't need anymore shoes.

LOL, I don't know you AT ALL, but here's what I think you should get:

A gas card loaded with lots of $$ so you don't have to pay $3+/gallon yourself for a while
Someone pays at least one month of your car & insurance payment
Someone pays at least one month of your mortgage or rent
Gift cards for a snazzy new spring wardrobe
A ridiculously expensive purse (shoes, pick an accessory) you can't live without
Spa day
Mani/pedi (yes, in addition to the spa day)
A shopping spree at Victoria's Secret because what girl doesn't love a drawer full of new unmentionables?
and...
um...
World peace?

oooh... I love how you think! Any chance you could pass these wonderful ideas on to my mother? She bought me a sweater one year with crosswords all over it- "but you LOVE crossword puzzles." Yeah, mom, I do. I just don't want to *wear* them.

Nittany- you can buy me a gift any time you please.....

LOL, as long as I don't send you a big fat sharpie so you can "do" your sweater, though, huh?

Such the beauty pageant answer. LOL

Hmmm, how about...
sunglasses
a charging station for your gizmos (iPod, etc.)
a bendable, snap-on reading light
unique bookmarkers
a digital picture frame (I think they're bizarre, but I'm old so...)

???

Keep em coming. My birthday is in 11 days and thankfully nobody has asked me yet. I'd really like lots of Borders gift certificates and nothing else, but I agree, people don't like to get me that all the time. Maybe they'll forget and I won't have to deal with it.

Why do people not ever want to buy books as gifts? I ask for them every Christmas/Birthday and EVERY TIME its "Oh, I don't want to get you books," or "I want to get you a REAL present." I think books are a GREAT gift because you can get one specific to the reciever's interests, and especially if that's what you WANT.....whatever.

However, I second whoever said sunglasses. Every girl needs a cute new pair of designer sunglasses for the spring.

Spring? What is this thing called Spring? It's been a rough winter and I'm not convinced Spring will ever come That's it! I'll ask for Spring for my birthday!

www.lush.com - any of the gift sets. And if you don't want them, send 'em to me.
