Pathological Liars

Share your stories about pathological liars!

****

So I know this one guy via the internet. Seemed to be a really nice guy. But I noticed that something was fishy when EVERY time I spoke to him, some sort of calamity had JUST befallen him. To date:

*Aunt or uncle died
*In the hospital for a month with a staph infection
*Car stolen
*Suing somebody

etc, etc

But in addition to the calamities, there were all sorts of fanciful stories about his father, mother, and seemingly endless count of brothers and sisters.

It was funny -- he told me this one guy was his brother but then the same guy was like ummmmmmm yeah we're FRATERNITY brothers....

***

Then there was this girl i went to high school with.....she SWORE she REALLY had a brain tumor and would make people feel this lump in her skull.

One of my LBs used to lie for stupid stuff (He's not as bad with it anymore).

I'm still shocked at one of the things he lied about:

On my way to my house one day, I noticed a dog on the street that had gotten hit by a car. When I left my house later that day, the dog had been removed from the street. About a week later, we were both driving down the street and saw the blood on the street. I mentioned that a dog had been hit in that spot. His response? "Oh yea, that was so sad. I just drove by and saw it. It was terrible." I was like "Uhh...it wasn't there today. They picked it up a week ago.." He tried for about 5 minutes to convince me otherwise before finally say "Ok, I didn't really see it out there."

Really? Was it really serious enough for him to lie?

I think I might have talked about this one, but it's always good for a laugh...

If you consider hypochondria (or somatasensory, if you want to be PC) pathological lying...there was a girl who went to my highschool who always had SOMETHING. Hypoglycemia, dislexia (or "lysdexia" as she called it), ADHD, and high or low blood pressure (she could never remember which, so it kinda changed depending on the day...), plus sprains (which she would either wear braces on, or tape up with hockey tape), rug burns (she was a tumbler and would frequently land on her head/face), and anything else under the moon.

Thing is about hypocondriacs - it takes NOTHING to convince them they have some new disease. So, when my friend and I started listing off the "symptoms" of nymphomania, she decided she had it, and announced it to whoever would listen. (Ok, so it was mean of us, but I would research a disease a LITTLE BIT myself before I announced to everyone, you know?) So after that died down we tried it again with necrophilia... You know the saying "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me..."? Apply here.

Liar 1: a local ballet teacher. She has all these photos of herself dancing in front of what's obviously curtains in small auditoriums and tried to tell us those are her pictures from when she danced with the Atlanta Ballet. She also told me that the U of West Georgia had said they'd let her get a doctorate in anything she cared to come up with. Yeah, right--at the time (and maybe still) they awarded no doctorates, much less self-created ones.

Liar 2: a teacher we know. Has frequently told whoppers that are so huge that they're glaringly obvious to anyone. She keeps telling people that she was a professional ballerina and a Rockette. My husband, who grew up with her and knows better, just laughs in her face. Sometimes her lies really affect other people. She got a group of doll collectors to go with her to New York, swearing that she'd gotten permission to tour the Mme. Alexander Doll Factory. They were kicked out. Then she became a realtor...she kept calling us about awful houses. One had algae growing solidly on basement walls and she swore there was no moisture problem. She got us to another house swearing that the yard was flat and seriously, it was so slanted that you could barely stand up in it.

I've only ever met one. Her lies included:

*Her dad is team Dr. for the Cincinnati Reds. Not true.

*She went to Arizona State where they REQUIRED all freshmen to go through recruitment. (I knew that wasn't true to begin with but I let it go).

*She modeled for Gucci for 2 years until she decided to come home and go to college. If you saw her, you would know that this was not true.

*She gets free Gucci clothing for life because of this and has 2 closets full of Gucci everything at home. Yet never wore ANY of it.

*When she came to KSU, she rushed and at House Tours, a sorority took her to a secret room in their house and promised her a Hermes Berkin bag if she accepted a bid from them right then. She ended up dropping out though because a girl from another sorority said they wanted her more. Sure.

*She had brain cancer. She needed weekends off from work to go to chemo, in MN.

All of these were confirmed to be false when I met her cousin. She was like "OMG seriously. She's been lying for years." Wow. The sorority rumors were conformed false by other Panhellenic girls.

She was promised the ostrich skin Birkin, nonetheless.
I'm sure she knows of a chapter who can afford $5000+ plus bags in lieu of a bid day shirt. Maybe she got both????

A few years ago, I had to take over a department for a crazy woman.

In the first 90 days that she was employed, her mother and father both got cancer, her brother died, she was mugged, contracted cholera and wintessed a shooting.

When I pointed out to her that people who get cholera typically die within 24 hours, she began back-peddling. Claimed it was due to the big blackout, even though her apartment never lost running water.

While we never could determine if her parents had cancer, she couldn't obtain proof that her brother died when we asked for verification for bereavement pay. She resigned right after that.
