Stupid question

What does the brownish orange right arrow mean on the message icon list? I have always wondered that when responding to a thread. Does it mean "hey, look at the subject line?"
The dumb questions insomniacs have at 3 in the morning

That's an interesting question.

The smilies are basically used to show the tone or emotion of the post...and then there's the thumbs up/down which is self-explanatory...

I guess the arrow means "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS POST!". Okay, that sounded dumb.

I wish I knew.

Okay, here's my stupid question...why is the winking guy lime green instead of yellow like the rest...and why isn't the frown icon blue instead of purple - ya know, like he's blue and down in the dumps. Oh well.

It does make sense that the sad person should be blue instead of purple.

Also, if they're considered "smilies", then the "mad smilie" and "sad smilie" shouldn't really be called "smilies", right?

I think the arrow might be used when responding to a specific post in a thread. If one didn't use the respond button, leaving the original post ( if it was an excessively long post or something), the arrow may signify a response to the previous question. Does that make sense?

You know, the only other think that comes to mind is...well...Pi Phi...since our symbols are arrows and angels. I know, ruthless pitch for Pi Phi. Haha.
