Lightbulb Calling ALL Chi Omega Alumni from Upsilon and Beyond!-UPDATED 2/13/08!

******Update at bottom!!!!!
Hello! I am an alumna of the Upsilon chapter of Chi Omega in Jackson, TN. The campus was severely damaged on 2/5/08 due to tornados that struck the mid-south.

Though the lodge was spared this time (damage was done in a 2002 tornado), the majority of the dorms were destroyed. Most of the students lost everything they owned. The sisters at Union lost their treasured Chi Omega items as well. This included jerseys, paddles, badges, etc.

As an alumni of the chapter, I thought it would be nice to replace the sisters jerseys and purchase the new initiates as well. Most of the sisters had already purchased those initiation day items as it normally occurs at the end of February.

I am posting this to see if any active members of other chapters or alumni would like to help in the donation efforts? I am also looking for any and every Upsilon alumni that I do not have contact information for. Every little bit would help.

Please send me a message if you are interested. You can visit www.uu.edu
and go the recovery web site that shows the total destruction on campus.
In the next week a web site will be designed and a paypal account set up to take donations for this effort. I will post that information on this thread.

Thanks for your time in reading this. I know the sisters at Union will be thrilled to have a small token of their memories replaced after this catastrauphic event.

Lesley Morley-Thompson (Pledge class 1998)

***As of midnight 2/13/08 the website is up and functional. The site is unionchio.sugarplumgals.com. On the site there is a guest book, if nothing else please leave your sisters some words of encouragement! The paypal account is active and accepting donations. Thank you!***

The OP already mentioned that she's an alumna.

I smell SPAM for YALM...BFG!W.

(YALM...BFG!W = Yet Another "Like Myspace...But For Greeks!" Website.)

This is NOT spam, I am an alumni of the Upsilon Chapter at Union. I went to Union in 1998. We are trying to help the sisters of Upsilon. We have cleared this with headquarters in Memphis, TN and the advisors for Upsilon are meeting tomorrow to discuss the campaign. Please go to www.uu.edu and go to the recovery section and see the destruction that was caused for yourself. It is real. It landed 51 students in the hospital and today 5 still remain hospitalized, 3 are in critical condition.
I just thought it would be nice to find missing sisters for chi omega on this site and see if other alumni would want to participate. These girls lost everything, I am sorry you do not believe me.

Our posts were in response to kappa_delta's spamming of the forums in her signature, not you.

I quoted you so that you know I'm responding to you.

(And for privacy purposes, you may want to take out your member number. One should never, ever post their member # on GC, IMHO)

No no no, ChiO, we're not accusing YOU of spamming, it's this annoying poser who posted below you:

She (or he) has hit at least 4 other boards with nonsensical posts, with the main point being to advertise the link to the cheesy website in the signature line.

So sorry that you took that I was referring to you.

I think, and I'm sure most of GreekChat thinks, that this is a lovely project in which you're involved. I would certainly support such an endeavor within Alpha Delta Pi, should the worst happen, and I applaud your efforts in helping your sisterhood. Best of luck to you!
