Backstreet Boy in rehab?
Here's a link to an article about it:
http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/2...-aj-mclean.htm
AM I the only one who thinks it's time for these guys to change their names. They left boyhood behind a looonng time ago! All the guys in those groups arejust old! One of the guys in N'Sync is somebody's BABY'S DADDY for crying out loud!
What do you guys think> Will these groups ever be able to change their image? Should they? Or should they just all go away (hey as long as I got Justin first, I wouldn't mind, lol)?

I remember when the New Kids on the Block wanted to do away with their wholesome image...they changed their name to NKOTB and things went downhill from there. Maybe they're afraid Backstreet Boys ---> BSB might spell the same disaster.
I was sad to hear about AJ McLean yesterday. I'm not a big BSB fan, but to battle depression and alcoholism is a serious issue, and I hope he can overcome it. The 4 remaining BSB were on the Today Show this morning talking about it, and I'm glad they're being honest with their fans.

I think it's sad that so much attention is being put on him. I mean, he already has so much to deal with, and I think the media only makes it worse .
Even though I usually hate boy bands.

I agree with OTW that it was good that they were honest with their fans. Alot of other people would have lied about it to save face. You can tell that the other boys really care about him and want him to get better. About the name change, I think it would be weird if they were suddenly "BSB" it would be too much like the NKOTB thing.

I really don't think that's when things went downhill. I think that's when they realized they needed a change because they were going downhill.

Though they call themeselves the Backstreet Boys, almost everyone it seems, refers to them as BSB. So maybe if they did indeed change their name formally to BSB, it wouldn't be much of a problem or a shock.

It sould be a little eerily reminiscent of NKOTB, but they realy are faced with the same dilemma. These are not boys anymore, they are growm men with adult problems and adult lives. I just wonder how much longer they're going to be able to succesfully connect with their teen audience, especiallly since many of them are getting married and having kids now.

That's exactly what we need
They change their name, they fall out of the scene so that this pop scene depletes to nothing but memories and a new wave of 'talented' artists and musicians comes through

well, that's what happens when you pick such a DUMB name!
just a note: New Kids didn't go down hill when they changed their name, they went downhill when they waited like 2-3 years before releasing their Face The Music album.
