Before Informal Recruitment Question

I hope to be coming out in a month to do informal spring recruitment for a few sororities on campus. These sororities have information groups on facebook that PNM's can join or anyone that is interested in recruitment. When I joined these groups a few of the girls from the sorority contacted me and asked me if i had any questions and if i wanted to go out and get coffee with them and discuss it more before Recruitment that they would love that. I wasn't sure but is that allowed? The 3-4 that i hope to attend for recruitment ..2 of them came out offering to take me out before recruitment to discuss their organization. I was just curious. I don't want me going out to coffee or lunch to hurt my chances of getting into other sororities.

Thanks!

If it's informal recruitment then I'd think it would be allowable. To be certain though you should email Greek Life Office or the campus Panhellenic VPM to confirm it it's okay.

Agreed - if it's informal recruitment, it should be ok to spend time with the sisters before IR starts. If doing so were a recruitment infraction, the sorority, not the PNM, is penalized.

so if allowable should I get to know the girls as much as possible? or as many girls as possible from different sororities to get an idea which one I get along with best before recruitment?

If it is informal, then as others have said, you should be okay. I would actually encourage you to meet with these groups. For one, it would give you an idea of how you fit in with them in a more relaxed setting, and two it will let them know that you are really interested in them.

Going to lunch doesn't mean you have signed any type of exclusive agreement with them, so it shouldn't hurt your chances with other groups.
