but she's not going to be in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra....instead, she'll be in George Bernard Shaw's Caesar and Cleopatra! I was actually confused at first, because there's a separate Shaw festival at Niagra-on-the-Lake. Julius Caesar will be played by Christopher Plummer (Captain von Trapp from Sound of Music)

Dreamgirls star Anika Noni Rose will play opposite acting legend Christopher Plummer in Caesar and Cleopatra at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival next year.

Rose, 34, a classically trained actor who won a Tony award in 2004 for her role in Broadway's Caroline, or Change, starred opposite Beyoncé Knowles and Jennifer Hudson in the Dreamgirls movie last year.

Do people here think Christopher Plummer is a tad bit...umm..old...to convincingly play Julius Caesar? Personally, I'd like to see Colm Feore in the role (he's actually played Caesar before...in the miniseries, Empire).

To me, Christopher Plummer will always be Captain von Trapp (even though he hated the role!)

Anika is no longer going to be Cleopatra due to a scheduling conflict. In her place is Nikki M. James, who is also playing Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.
