Late night talkshows resume

Thoughts?

I switched back and forth between Leno & Letterman; both were terrible. Jay was more "impressive" though given the fact that he has no writers.

Conan was terrible. I tuned out after 20 minutes.

I thought Leno's monologue was funny. I guess I just don't "get" Letterman. He was annoying as all get out. (And that was with his writers!) It will be interesting to see the next few shows, since many of the actors refuse to cross the picket lines.

It will be, but Letterman shouldn't have that problem since his writers have a contract with his company.

Seems like that puts Leno at a serious disadvantage.

I preferred Leno last night. I thought he was as funny as before, but the fact that he wrote all of his jokes made me enjoy him that much more last night.

You have to wonder, though, how long he can keep coming up with material to fill five show a week.

Leno wasn't supposed to have written anything, and he's in trouble for doing so:

"A discussion took place today between Jay Leno and the Writers Guild to clarify to him that writing for The Tonight Show constitutes a violation of the Guilds' strike rules."

Cant leno or conan or any of them for that fact go to aspiring comic writers who are not apart of the writers guild and get material from them? or is that in violation of anything? I know they will be considered scabs but to fill a 5 day a week show for however long this strike last will get very old.

The writers guild could black list their shows.

Plus Leno and Conan are guild members, so they don't WANT to go around the strike and are really only returning to work to make sure everyone else keeps their jobs.
