Bid Day Card Ideas?

I'm the new Alpha Sig VP of Membership Ed. I want to be ready for rush and get as much done over the christmas break as possible.

I want to do something cute and creative for our bid day cards but really don't know where to start? Any ideas? You can PM me.

Really appreciate it.

A ladybug is very easy to make into a bid card.

If you want to do something a little more sophisticated, you could put a border of pearls and rubies (faux of course) around the card. About how many NMs are you expecting?

it was 13 the last two springs. I'm going to make 15 of whatever I make. I can always save them for fall.

Can you find a local artist who does calligraphy to make the bid day cards? You could leave the names blank and fill those in before bid day. Use your sorority. Crest on the top of the card.

You don't even have to have the name on the card. Just put the name on the envelope. My campus had official NPC bid cards, and they wrote in the fraternity name on the blank line. I still have my card!

are you going for cutsey or sophisticated? My bid day card looked like a wedding announcement- very formal with a rose across the top. Our names were not on the cards, just on the envelopes.

If you want cutsey- the ladybug idea sounds perfect. If you want sophisticated, go for calligraphy.

This was actually for recruitment name tags, but I bought these silver and gold felt calligraphy pens at the craft store and got my sister to label them in calligraphy. She's my biological sis, not a Kappa. Thanks, sis!

Doesn't your GLO have "official" bid cards? Or are you decorating the envelopes?

Do you mean GLO or campus?

I don't know about ASA, but Kappa has official bid cards that can be ordered from HQ.

The VP of Membership/Recruitment is normally responsible for bid cards in my chapter. As the "VP of Membership Ed(ucation?)" are you needing ideas for welcome cards or actual bid cards? Again, my chapter uses very formal, wedding invitation type bid invitations but our new member educator might plan a welcome card to distribute on bid day with something more informal, in your case, the lady bug.

It was the norm on our campus for each organization to come up with their own creative design for them - I can remember being up late nights doing everything from creating white roses with silver trim out of this slippery, shimmery paper (pretty, but we totally spent way too long on them!) to printing them on pretty paper that resembled a wedding invitation. It all depends if you want something cutesy (then I'd go with the ladybug), something formal (wedding style), or something in-between. (your flower?)

Yes to both. I know that we're to use ADPi Bid Cards, unless the campus dictates that each GLO uses a campus-wide Bid Card. We did use Alpha Delta Pi ones, but weren't even allowed to use anything but black pen on the outside!

Same here! My chapter had official Theta bid cards we had to use!

Thanks for all the replies. We do have official ones we can use and they are very nice looking. But it is tradition for the sororities to make their own.

The key is that during spring rush, everyone sees your cards because they are passed out before the girls are brought up to celebrate. So I wanted them to be nice for sure.

Again.. thanks for all the replies and ideas.
