Need Some Advice
Hey everyone.
Ok, so I am having a major problem. Big/Little picking is coming up and I am totally in love with one of our pladges, she is the cutest thing in the whole world, and I totally want her to be my lil, and she has subtley(sp?) hinted that she wants me to be her big. everything sounds good right? wrong. So i am totally broke, I mean $1.52 in the bank account with bills due broke, and I just got a new job today (yeah!) but i won't see a paycheck until after revealing. I know money doesn't make a good week, but I would like to get her stuff that would be cute, and I don't even have any money to make her anything or get stuff from the dollar store. So my question is should I wait until I am more financially stable so I can take a little like I would like too(and pray someone comes along who is even half as cool), or should i take this amazing girl and hope she understands, while everyone else is getting great gifts from their big?

Credit Card Seriously though, can you not float a loan from your folks, or one of your friends/sisters? If you're going to have the cash sooner or later, I'd say those are two viable options.

Why not make her something? I think this would be seen as more from the heart! Do you have a composite or picture you could give her? What about a nice poem or card? Don't worry about money right now. If she doesn't understand, she is not the type of person you'd want for your little!

Hey USFStudent!
She should understand the money situation, however, don't pass her up because you think she won't. The Lil/Big relationship can be a wonderful, inspirational one. If you know the two of you click, PLEEZ pick her! The relationship in the long run is more important than the gift. The relationship lasts forever! BTW, what GLO are you in? I was wondering, because I have my own company that does custom and popular gear for GLO's - . If I have something at the office for your GLO already made as a sample, or in your colors, I will send it to you at no charge, just so you can start her off! If you dont want to say on this thread what the name of your house is, E-mail me, and maybe we can work something out. I just don't want you to lose out on a great new friendship. My pledge daughter and I are ridiculously close, and have been since she crossed 9 years ago! I want you to be able to have the same thing and not miss out, so e-mail me! (the address is in my profile)
I hope this helps...Go get your lil' sis!

It's fun to get gifts, but I wouldn't trade my big for all the letter sweatshirts and mugs in the world!! Make something or ask your big & big big if they can help you out - after all, she's going to be part of their family too!

Soror6, This post is so nice, I nearly cried when I read it! You should be commended for your good heart!! And as for the woman who doesn't have the cash, I would say that credit card always works, or even getting like $50 from your family till the check comes. Or hell, $20, because the dollar store and some paint pens make some awesome creations! I went to AC Moore, a craft store, and bought these little purple flowers and a little glass box and some pearls and stuff, and I surprised myself by creating a gorgeous pin box for my little. She asked me where I got it, because it was so pretty, and I told her I made it. Then she cried. We're a sappy bunch sometimes

Hey guys....
First off, thank you soror6 for your kindness and generosity. I really apreciate it. Well just to let you know I decided to take her as my little (yeah ) and because God acts in mysterious ways I found $40 dollars on my target card( I am so addicted to target so i am very surprised) I was so worried because i am over the limit on ever other card i have, and my parents are not giving me any more money. but i went to target and got some cheap frames, and I already had paint pens, and i found this adorable little blue stuffed bear (our mascot is the bear and our colors are old blue and cafe au lait) so thats another good one, and i picked out a couple of cheap (in price not looking) candles in glass, and a bunch of other little really super cute stuff. Plus another sign that this was totally ment to be, is that i was talking to my big, and she mentioned that she had had a shirt made that she had never worn, so i can give that to my little, and that the lavilere i thought was oh so expensive was ony $15 bucks with a $7 chain. which by the time they get to initiation i will have gotten a paycheck. So I am totally happy with my decision, and thank you all SO much.
