POLL: What is your Style?
Here's a poll where we can learn something about ourselves. I don't want your clothing style, and I know if you're still in college you probably don't think of this much--but think about it anyway , I want to know how you would decorate a completely bare home. What would your style be. Some people would say that it depends on the home, but forget that--what would reflect YOU? Country, modern, contemporary, historical . . .
For me, I would decorate in a traditional asian style. I love the simplicity of asian design! I especially love the traditional dining rooms and I LOVE the gardens. Everything is so simple, yet it's elegant and sophisticated at the same time.

I want my home to be warm, with lots of natural light. I think the style would probably vary from room to room, it would have to have a state-of-the-art kitchen though. I really like the "Hampton Beach House" style though, lots of blues and yellows and wood finishes and florals. And I'd have Thomas Kincaid paintings of Lighthouses decorating the walls.

I'm not exactly sure. I loves taupes, sages, etc. I love Cheri Blum paintings...if you are familiar with them, I would like to decorate my house using similar colors with a similar feel. I really like a clean look with little messes that give a lived-in type of feel. I'm still working on what on want, but I suspect I always will be.

Mikki, thats funny. My parents have their house decorated with loads of oriental stuff they brought back from Okinawa. Its like your stepping in to the Pacific rim. *L* Maybe not. They have a lot of afghan rugs too. I have no idea how I'd decorate my house. The colors would definitely have to work together. Definitely Hardwood floors. I like Thomas Kincaid too. I'm not really sure what look I'd want. I know I'd like to have my house built. I'm thinking something traditional. Both my parents and one of my aunts houses on the outside kind of resemble a log cabin. I kind of like that.

K,
My fiance really loves log cabins, so we thought. . .log cabin out in nowhere with nice asian gardens around it, and aisian style interior. Doesn't quit sound right, but I don't care. . .we'll both get what we want!

Mikki,
Sounds like you and Bryan have a great idea. I'm sure it'll be a great house. Getting what you both want is definitely important. I guess my parents had that same idea in mind. Even though we dont have the asian gardens or even close the Mr. Miagi look. I suppose eventually I'll inherit all that stuff.

Definatly a modern Zen. I love the bareness and openness of the asian style. The modern part would lead to bright highlights. For instance, beige and white walls, furniture, and carpeting, with bright blue accent pillows and tasteful, but bright, art. Living in a tiny tiny dorm room makes me really appreciate space. I also really love art, so I would make sure to have a collection.

hi I would decorate my home with a modern art/ romantic mixture. Everyroom would have slightly different color theme, that started with little blue transidtioning in to a very deep purple.

I want a bunch of really swank modern stuff in either a pent house apartment or a hollwood mansion. I would have never thought about this but we had to do the same thing for German class

My home right now (a "half-house" - whole top floor of a house) has a little bit of everything - every room is different.
Kitchen - kinda country, green & ivory.
Living room & "extra" room - earth tones, natural fabrics.
Bedroom - mauve & dusty blue with black enamel furniture, sleek.
Bathroom - rainbow pastels.
Hope you liked the tour.

I've always had a very feminine style to my abode-whether it was a dorm room or now my home. I do have Kincade paintings in every room. The lighthouses were not my favorite, though-even though I'm from the Mississippi coast. I have most of his first paintings that were very limited. I decorate in florals, blues, greens, yellow, and roses. Lots of plants in every room and collectibles. The new house we will be building for our retirement home will be on a lake in the country-very light and bright.
