Black Hawk Down

I know BHD is a guys movie, but I loved it. It was sad in what they had to endure cuz of idiots like Bill C. who liked to play at soldiering. Thank God we now have a President who lets the military run their operations.

But the movie showed how super our guys were in a horrible situation.

i'm sorry, i can't resist...

the marines and us presence in this area was pulled out because of public opinion - when on cnn and splashed across every newspaper in the us is videos and pictures of a us marine being dragged through the streets, "vandalized" and beaten - it changes your political strategy. the public, the american people wanted their boys out of there, and clinton reacted to that - like any president would do. those marines wanted to stay there - they had a mission and they wanted to complete it. the US won in somalia - we lost 18 good men, but thousands of somali soldiers (and innocents i might add) were killed. but what was the image we got of that time - a us marine being dragged through the streets. tell me you wouldn't change your policy when the us public is outraged. why does bush "allow our military to run it's operations?" because the war on terrorism has so much frickin support from the american people, who were devestated from the attacks of 9/11 that theyre not going to have the same outrage when a few marines die defending the us. politics is very much cause and effect - foreign policy changes with the circumstances that surround the world around us.
