Notable Sigma's
So seriously...I have been thinking about this for a while. Every sorority web site I go to I always see a huge, long list of notable or famous memerbs. I was just wondering where our long list is. These are the only notabe members that I have ever heard of:
Carrie Underwood Winner of American Idol Season 4 (2005)
Suzie from the fifth season of The Bachelor on ABC
Billie Letts author of Where the Heart Is
Linda Denham creator of the Care Bears
Jennifer Blackburn Dunn member of the US House of Representatives
Gladys Morelock Superintendent of the US Mint
I think it's great that we have these members, but it would be nice to hear about some others.
SLAM,
Brenda

I totally agree! There has got to be more notable Sigmas out there somewhere! I always look in the back of the Greek 101 catalogue to see if any celeb they list is a sigma but they never are
I guess we just all need to become famous huh?!
I'll start by marrying Adam Brody (Seth Cohen) from the OC.

I know we have to have more which is the only reason I posted about it. I think the people that are listed are Amazing, but I would like to be able to hear about more.

Don't forget about Linda Denham, creator of Care Bears. One of her original designs was one with a sailboat.

No notable Sigmas
Sorry to crash your boards...
I just wanted to add my two cents that not every organization lists its famous members. Mine doesn't (Alpha Omicron Pi). I used to think that we must not have any! I found out that we don't do that because we (as in the international organization) don't like to insinuate that certain members are more important than others merely because they became famous. We believe that EVERY AOII is notable in her own right. I don't fault any group for listing its notables, but it really shouldn't be that important. The most important sisters are the ones you interact with throughout your life, and I doubt some actress or celebrity does that.
Just ramblings from another Greek!

I think their might be some merit to changing the view from "famous" to "every sister is famous in her own way" I mean I agree that it's a great bragging rite to say "My sister is the American Idol" but I could also say, "sarah is special to me because she is the sister I can always call when I feel like crying".
Of course if we are listing we need to add Carrie

That Annie Ericsson is so talented.
On a side note, regardless of whether it was posted years ago or not, Jennifer Blackburn Dunn is not a Tri Sigma. Almost all of our chapters post that on their Web sites, and it's just not true. Such a big pet peeve of mine.
Also heard from a consultant last year that she had to argue with an alumna that Olivia Newton-John was not a sister. Have y'all encountered any other women that are said to be Sigma women, but aren't?

YES.
I had an alumnae tell me that Sarah Jessica Parker is a Sigma.
For the love of all that is holy, SJP never. went. to. college.
I also have had 3454545 people claim that Reese Witherspoon is a Sigma.
Neither of them are members of ANY sorority, but I've seen both of them on several different sorority chapter sites (Gamma Phi, KKG, APhi, others).

Haha! SJP or Reese would be fine Sigma sisters, though. :P
