California Greek Chapters Safe from Fires

Many of the GLOs have active chapters in California. Our national website printed an update on the two campuses most affected by the terrible fires.
Univ. of California at San Diego--Closed for the week and evacuated.

Pepperdine University-Campus on lockdown. Classes resumed today.

As far as is known no chapter houses/lodges have been harmed at this point. All students are safe as of the last report.

I've heard from an OPA alumna doing graduate studies at San Diego State, and she says that the fires are about 20 miles away from her area and that she doesn't expect it to get too close anytime soon. I know the campus was closed yesterday, but I'm not sure about today or the rest of the week.

SDSU

San Diego State is closed for the week as far as I know. One of my brothers here is from the San Diego area and he has been checking up on the situation every day.

UCSD, USD, SDSU, all public schools in the San Diego County are closed for the week, classes resume Monday, October 29. The air quality is crap here. :[ The schools are all unaffected structurally thank God.

Pepperdine

Pepperdine escapes major harm yet again...but barely.

Photos courtesy the student newspaper and Facebook. Most of the buildings in the photos are dorms. The building in the last photo is the law school.

Incredible Photos....

Those photographs are frightening. Thank you for sharing with us. This is a catastrophe to southern California and the large numbers of people who have lost their homes and almost everything they own.

I'm too saddened by the whole thing to even breathe a sigh of relief. I'm glad they're safe, but so many people's homes and businesses aren't.

How terrifying and eerie it must be to look up at the sky and see nothing but red...all of the victims are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.

That having been said, looking at the dorm buildings themselves makes me feel so terribly east-coast.

CSUSB is closed through the weekend. Thus far the school has not burned again. There were fires within a mile or so of school but no damage to the University. So far I have not heard of any Greeks that were harmed or homes burned.
