Halloween (#9) - A Rob Zombie movie (Aug 31/07)

http://www.halloween-themovie.com/

This looks very scary....I'm excited to see it. It's supposed to be a "retelling" of the original Halloween movie, but Rob Zombie style. EEEEK!!!

My nephew ( a HUGE fan of the Halloween franchise) got to meet Rob Zombie and tour the set in Pasadena where the movie was being filmed. He got pictures and autographs from the cast and Rob himself. Scott (my nephew) still talks about it and how much fun he had and how just awesome and nice Rob was to him. I was supposed to take him to see the movie this Friday but since I have my neck injury, I can no longer escort him. Boo!

I'm excited to see it. I love Halloween I, II, and H20. The rest I can live without.

if i could stomach it, i would see this

i read that zombie's version tells the story from michael myers' viewpoint. i think i have seen every movie and there hasnt been a version that focuses on this perspective.

zombie seems to be a gore aficionago, so i am sure this will be a great movie!

I got a copy of this movie last week from a friend in the industry and all I got to say is . . .BADASS! I was pissed when I first heard they were remaking the original(until I found out RZ was attached), but I really liked this one.

I don't like horror films, but I listened to a review this morning on the radio (from a guy who hates horror films) and he said it was a really good movie. It's not just blood and bodies...there's actually substance. Supposedly you'll almost feel sorry for him at the beginning.

Still don't know if I'll see it.

I want to see it now (but I'm a lil' bit chicken too..... )

I saw DEATH SENTENCE tonight...it started out good, but got a bit stupid towards the end.

I just got home from seeing "Halloween" and I thought it was pretty good. Michael grows up in a horrible, dysfunctional family and yeah, you do feel sorry for him in the beginning. The child actor who plays Michael gave an excellent performance, IMO.

Wow, that is an interesting spin. I was hell bent on not going to see it, but I may decide to see it anyways to see this new perspective.

I don't know if I would go so far as to say that it's told from Michael Myers' viewpoint; however you certainly gain an appreciation for why he turns out the way that he does. While evidence is shown that he already is a "little off" -- i.e. before he moves on to murdering humans, he tortures and kills animals (the psychiatrist is shown photos of animals, and it's implied that he killed his pet rat(s) off screen), you also see that this is exacerbated by the fact that he grows up in an abusive, horrible household. I didn't see the very first Halloween movie, so I don't know how much they get into the details of his homelife in the original. However, from the depiction of his homelife in the Zombie rendering, you feel a bit sorry for him.

I haven't seen the new one yet but I've seen the first one several times. I don't remember any hint of horrible home life in the original.

There's no hint at all about him growing up in an abusive home in the original movie. Now I'm pissed that this facet of his homebringing was never mentioned in any of the Halloween sequels.

At least with the Friday the 13th movies, we know why Jason and his mama snapped and started killing folks all willy-nilly, lol.
