All of the _______ NPC Chapters

Ok - this is one of those threads for NPC buffs, and those who like to waste time.

Let's go by chapter, and list the university where all 26 NPCs have that chapter. (Yes, I realize not ever group has a chapter for every letter-deal with it.) Since I *think* it's most common, let's go Alpha-Omega, then Alpha Alpha, Alpha Beta, Alpha Gamma, etc then Beta Alpha, Beta Beta, Beta Gamma - well, you get it.

Alpha Chapters

Alpha Chi Omega - DePauw University
Alpha Delta Pi - Wesleyan College
Alpha Gamma Delta - Syracuse University
Alpha Epsilon Phi - Barnard College
Alpha Omicron Pi - Barnard College
Alpha Phi - Syracuse University
Alpha Sigma Alpha - Longwood University
Alpha Sigma Tau - Eastern Michigan University
Alpha Xi Delta - Lombard College
Chi Omega - University of Washington
Delta Delta Delta - Boston University
Delta Gamma - Mount Union College
Delta Zeta - Miami University
Delta Phi Epsilon - New York University Law School
Gamma Phi Beta - Syracuse University
Kappa Alpha Theta - DePauw University
Kappa Delta - Longwood University
Kappa Kappa Gamma - Monmouth College
Phi Mu - Wesleyan College
Phi Sigma Sigma - Hunter College
Pi Beta Phi - Monmouth College
Sigma Delta Tau - Cornell University
Sigma Kappa - Colby College
Sigma Sigma Sigma - Longwood University
Theta Phi Alpha - University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Zeta Tau Alpha - Longwood University

Ok - who's going to take on doing the Beta chapters?

Question: Is this currently active chapters? Or just listing each group's Beta Chapter whether it is open or closed?

Try open & closed - but some org's closed chapters might be hard to find. In the interest of this thread only taking a year or so , if you can't find a closed chapter (or an org doesn't HAVE that chapter designation), just put that. You can always go back and edit your post later if you end up finding it, or if a member of that GLO looks it up and lets you know.

ETA: I suppose there could be super bonus brownie points for putting the year the chapters were founded/closed.

It'd be every chapter with a Beta since she listed every NPC's Alpha chapter, many of which (including AOII's) are closed.

Too lazy to do the research but here's a hint to whomever wants to attempt this- Alpha Sigma Alpha single-letter chapters that were closed because they were at teachers' colleges:
Beta: Lewisburg Seminary, Lewisburg, WV
Gamma:College for Women, Columbia, SC
Delta: Mary Baldwin Seminary, Staunton, VA
Epsilon: Fauquier Institute, Warrenton, VA
Zeta: Fairmont Seminary, Washington, DC
Eta: Ward Seminary, Nashville, TN

And AOII's Beta Chapter at Brown was never actually open. . . .

What about the NPC groups that do not use some sort of Alpha to Omega designation?

For example, the current chapter designation for Pi Beta Phi is State and Letter. And for chapters in Kentucky it would be as follows.

Kentucky Alpha - Louisville
Kentucky Beta - Kentucky
Kentucky Gamma - Eastern Kentucky

Other states will have State Alpha, State Beta, State Gamma etc.

Maybe pick the first founded State Beta Chapter as the "Beta" chapter, and the and the second founded State Beta chapter as the "Alpha Beta" chapter.

It's not going to all work out perfect, due to variances in chapter designations...but just use your best judgement. I'm sure someone will correct you if your totally wrong.

LOL. In general, though, people don't get snarky about OH EM GEE, you put Alpha Beta, and our Alpha Beta Chapter is at RuffemTuffem Tech, how could you NOT know that??? Although if you put something really stupid, you probably will get made fun of.

So is this chronological founding or just letter designation? For AOII, Pi chapter at Tulane was founded in 1898 while Beta was chartered in 1908, same day as Delta and Gamma as the 9th, 10th, and 11th chapters.

Letter designation. Basically, in the end, we should have a nice resource of "Gee, I wonder where XYZ's Pi Chi chapter is? Oh, it's at State U". Also, I know it's been discussed before, but it's always interesting to see that "Oh, wow, XZY, ABC, DEF, and GTG all have their Beta Epsilon Chapter at U of State!".

And, yeah, it's probably a good idea to call it before you do it. I'd hate to have two people researching the same letter designation, only for them to post at the same time and cancel eachother out.

Then Chi Omega's needs to be changed as their founding chapter actually is Psi and not Alpha - and their chapter designations go "backwards".

Sorry to make this complicated. . . .

Hate to nitpick, but for Chi Omega, our founding chapter is Psi Chapter at the University of Arkansas. Our Alpha Chapter is at the University of Washington, founded in 1909.

Love the idea though! I would love to see if any other organizations have my chapter designation--Upsilon Lambda!
