Princessjv's Rush Thread

Hey everyone!

School and formal recruitment starts in less than a month, so I figured I’d start my rush story now! I’m from Canada, so formal recruitment and greek life in general is pretty different from the stories I’ve been reading on here, especially the SEC recruitment stories! Last year I took classes at the university (wasn’t a fulltime student though…this year I am!) and I had friends who are part of the greek system, so I kind of know a little bit about the chapters here.

There are four panhellenic sororities on my campus, and for obvious reasons, I’m going to give them all nicknames. I’ve decided to go with Disney princesses to go with my username!

Ariel- One of my best friends is in this house, my cousin is also an alumnae of Ariel (from a different campus.) The girls that I have met are very nice and seem like a lot of fun

Belle- I have a couple friends in this house and the girls I have met are all very nice.

Cinderella- I’ve met a lot of these girls at parties and events from last year, they are very sweet and down to earth.

Sleeping Beauty- Sleeping beauty is a smaller chapter, but I've met a few girls, and they are very nice.

I've gotten a lot of great advice from reading around on this site and I'm so excited for recruitment to begin, I'm going to try going in with an open mind, but after being around for a year already it might be kind of hard.

I'll probably update more when school starts, events start happening and formal recruitment begins!

So I've been the first open round!! it was SO much fun!
All the houses looked great and i loved the chants/singing. Here's my thoughts on the houses (not on the order I went to them.)

Ariel-I LOVED this house! the theme was super cute and totally my thing. All the girls were friendly and bubbly and you could tell they all got a long very well.

Belle- I also really LOVED this house. Their theme was the best by far and done so well! The conversations started out awkward but got a lot better and were really good

Cinderella- This house wasn't my favourite but it was still really fun. They had a theme but i'm not quite sure what it was...The conversations were a littler awkward but hopefully they are better tomorrow. I'm on the fence about this one.

Sleeping Beauty- Their theme was cute but not as well executed as was Belle and Ariel's. I had some really good conversations but I'm not sure if I can see myself there, we'll see tomorrow for the open philanthropy round.

So we don't actually start ranking until tomorrow, but here's my unnoffical ranking.

Belle
Ariel
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty

I'll update tomorrow.

I found that on a chapter website a long time ago, and set it aside for a rainy day! I had a better one, where Tinkerbelle actually flew over a sentence and sprinkled pixie dust, but that one doesn't work any longer.

today was open round number two, the philanthropy party day!

SO many more potiential new members came out to this day of recruitment rather than yesterday, it was insane, my group like doubled in size!

Anddd onto what I thought of each house!

Ariel- LOVED this house. I just felt so comfortable and had awesome conversations. the way they presented their philanthropy was the best out of all the other chapters. I left the house feeling like that was it.

Belle-This house blew me away again! I had an amazing time and had really fun conversations with the girls, not just about the sorority and what i'm doing in class and it was overall a really good time. Their philanthropy idea was really cute. I definitly liked this one as much as Ariel.

Cinderella- I'm still feeling very so-so about Cinderella, I had good and bad conversations but I think if I get to talk to more members I could really click with a couple of the actives! Their theme was cute but their philanthropy wasn't executed very well.

Sleeping Beauty- I had fun visiting sleeping beauty, but it didn't completely wow me. The philanthropy idea was better than Cinderella's but still wasn't all that spectacular.

So that being said, I adore Ariel and Belle and I'd be perfectly happy in either house. I haven't completely written Cinderella off, hopefully I get to visit there tomorrow and have more conversations!
Tomorrow we go to the office and see where we got invited back and either get dropped, or drop a house!
