Dont understand Daylight Savings!
Last night as i was laying in bed, a question occurred to me. Why is it that not all 50 states have Daylight Savings? Before my friend went to ASU- her boyfriend was already in Arizona going to another school- and he had told her that they never did that. So i asked her and all she said was that they dont. Anyway i kept bugging her about it and she kind of got fed up with me so i stopped. hehe Although, i never got an answer as to why. Arizona isnt the only state that doesnt do this right? I think there are others. If anyone knows why and which other states- i would appreciate it.

Saskatchewan, one of the Canadian provinces, does not do Daylight Savings Time either, although I don't the reason why.

There has been lobbying in saskatchewan to get with the program and go on daylight savings. It has something to do with where they're located, time zone wise. B.C. is three hours behind, Alberta is 2, then there's sask...mmm....okay. NO, it makes no sense. You're right. LOL. My boyfriend used to live in sask. I'll ask him if he has any idea why and i'll get back to you. A very good question!

That website was very interesting. We don't turn our clocks forward/backward in Hawaii...so I've never really understood it either. I know it's that time of the year again when TV shows aren't when they're supposed to be on.

I was really freaked out a few years ago when I went to AZ, saw the sun was up the next morning, got up showered and then went downstairs to get breakfast at my friends house and no one was up.. 'Cause it was 4:45 AM. It looked like 9 am or something.
The reason not all 50 states use DST is because it is up to each state to make laws regarding these things. And as in the case of almost everything, you cant always get 50 people or states to agree on anything.
The reason AZ doesnt (As I was explained is 2 fold)
1, AZ is a retiremant state. The retirees dont like it, because it makes things darker in the AM, when Seniors tend to be awake doing things.
2, IT IS HOT AS H&LL in AZ in the summer. You get the daytime heat done early, and the sun sets sooner you can go back outside in the evening after the sun has set. If they observed DST, the sun would stay up later in the day, and it would be hotter later inthe day. Actually makes sense.
As for Indiana, I think they are just being difficult.

We here in Indiana can't seem to get with the rest of the world on anything. Every year, the state assembly discusses daylight savings time to a great extent and almost passes it, but then it gets shot down. It's a really big issure here, people put signs in their yeard saying they're either for or against it, some are worried it will throw off the farmers in their daily tasks...how??? They can keep a clock or two on the same time all year if it's too confusing for them.
It would be so much easier if it would get passed. Half the year we're with New York, the other half, Chicago. It gets confusing...you have to think for a minute or two before you call someone out of state..."are they the same time as us today???" Another reason I would like it is you have one more hour of daylight in the evening, the sun wouldn't set until almost 10 pm!!!!
So I guess what my point is, no one really knows why Indiana, Arizona and Hawaii don't do daylight savings.
Have a good day!

I LOVE Daylight Savings! It's the greatest. In the summer...at 9 PM it's still not dark yet...it's simply awesome! Makes summer perfect.

Indiana doesn't do Daylight savings time, either. Those are the only two.

I learned about this in my government class. The Farmers Union wanted more time in the day to plant crops. They hooked up with a bunch of people, including candy makers. The candy makers spent the most money for it, but got screwed cuz they thought it would be during halloween time, where kids would be trick or treating later, but it happened in the summer time.

I never got why we had Daylight Savings Time, and then I learned that it was introduced as a way to save on electricity during a war (WWI or WWII I think). For all you trivia buffs...
