At the college, but not the campus yet.
I'm enrolled in rutgers 2+2 program at the camden campus (This fall will be my first semester). (The program is for engineering students, you go to camden or newark your first two years of college and then finish at the new brunswick school of engineering).
Anyway, I was interested in rushing sorority, but rutgers camden doesnt have a great many options, so I was wondering, Is it at all possible for me to rush a sorority in New Brunswick while I'm still enrolled at the Camden campus (like this spring), or would I have to wait until I'm enrolled in New Brunswick??
I ask for two reasons:
1. I'm curious if, because its the same college, if makes a huge difference, and
2. I read on this site that you have a lower chance of pledging a sorority if you are an upperclassman.

As the two campuses have different sororities, I'm guessing that no, you cannot do this. Just because they're closer than some branch campuses doesn't matter.
Re the upperclassman thing, that mainly has to do with schools that are in the south and schools that are super competitive. I think there are some posters on here from Rutgers or nearby - they ought to be able to give you an idea of what your chances would be.

(thanks 33girl)
But now, knowing that, would it be wrong to rush the sororities in the camden campus *knowing* i'll only be with them for 2 years??
And also, how does spring rush work??
I've been reading and everyone keeps giving advice about rush but then keeps mentioning how its different in the spring...........

Don't worry about what anyone is saying about "spring rush" - the only thing you should be concerned w/ is if it's formal or informal. Sometimes formal is in the fall, sometimes it's in the spring.
As to whether it would be "wrong" - just know that if you are initiated into a sorority at Camden, you can't join another one when you get to NB.

It appears that the only NPC that Camden has is Sigma Delta Tau, which is also at NB. It is *possible* that you join SDT and then transfer to NB and are accepted into that chapter, but it's not *guaranteed* (as in, I wouldn't bank on doing that). Plus, you might fit with the chapter at Camden, and not like the chapter at NB at all.
I suppose you could always check out the chapter at Camden, and then ask them what happens, since there's probably a few people who are also in the same situation. That would be my best advice.

Camden has at least one great option that I know of
I'd ask, because I'm sure that your not the only one in this situation. Also, seeing as your talking about a Northern school, recs probably aren't needed (from what I know about Rutgers) and you shouldn't have that much of an issue in the fall or spring so I don't think you need to be super worried about that.
