Reversing my Decision on Popped Collars

In the original "Popped Collars" thread, I professed to be thrilled that this 80's trend was returning and added that I hoped it signified the return of MORE 80's fashions.

That is until Mr. KR and I went to the Patriot League lacrosse tournament yesterday.

We were sitting there watching Hobart beat Lehigh when the Navy Lacrosse team came in en masse and sat down a few rows in front of us. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was wearing a brightly colored Polo with POPPED COLLAR, khaki shorts with those braided belts and black Ray Ban Wayfarers. On top of all that, they were all sporting scary Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell hair:

Not sure how they got that kind of volume on regulation military haircuts, but that's not the point here.

It's just too much....I have decided that I'm not quite ready to relive the eighties just yet.

So, it is with much sadness that I hereby withdraw my support of the popped collar

You've insulted me more than you will ever know. I am sorry but we just can't be friends anymore.

I'm waiting for mall hair to make a come back. And then I'll go into hiding until it fades away

Except it wasn't called a mullet back then for women. It was called a "bi-level".

Popped collars only work if you have a long neck!

Only people with high income levels and potentials are allowed to pop the collar.

I saw a woman with hair like that today. I almost choked on my popsicle.

And bright coloured polos, khaki shorts and Zack Morris hair...no wonder they say that the Navy is gay

I saw a perfect looking couple with two perfect looking babies in strollers walking on the Upper East Side. The man had a pink Lacoste with the collar turned up. Cha-Ching! He was money, and he knew it.
