Prayers and heart felt condolences to her family, friends and Sorors.
The article mentioned that she was trying to get an 'eviction' for him. Does that mean that her residence had his name on the lease or something too?

Soror, this is such sad news!! What is wrong with these men? They need their behinds beat seriously. I will say a prayer for her family. This really could be any one of us. What more could she do besides call the police several times - which she did? And they didn't even arrest him? What is going on? How is a woman supposed to protect herself?

They did not get the "father's talking" like my poor hubby did: My dad has 4 brothers--meaning I have 4 grown uncles. When we first got married, my one crazy uncle said (in the most Southernist Calm Voice one can make):

THEN, my mom has a brother that did 2 tours in Vietnam in the Marines... Well... Needless to say, if anyone found out that my hunny hit me, dental records would have to be used as an identification process, if that...
I know my husband loves me, but I am not worth being on Death Row for...
Poor ladies in these kinds of situations sometimes do need this kind of back-up. I don't know too many thugs that would want a "Syndicate" looking for them.

This is sad and frightening The police do nothing to protect women. In order for them to act, they want an actual incident such as a black eye. If you call them and tell them the man is threatening you and is displaying threatening behavior, they do nothing. Its sad that this happened and I pray for her family and Sorors. Women and the communities must stand up and demand more police response to situations such as these.

(at bolded) It is also to protect the man's rights too. The police cannot discern if the call is truly because the aforementioned is the case or if the woman is merely doing it out of spite. Besides, even if the man is doing the above, the ability for the woman to call the police provides a means for her to do something else to protect herself from any potential harm:
FLEE THE SCENE!!!
My points above are twofold: to let women know they have a right to protect themselves from harm by psycho men, be it by fight or flight, but also to prevent abuse to the system (read: calling the police) purely for revenge and spite.
