Doc Dirghalli visits Epsilon-Mu, University of Florida

It was a real pleasure being able to hear him speak to us. Feel free to comment.

EJ,

It looks like you had an appropriately formal dedication ceremony. Nice job on the room; great pictures. How old is Doc now?

Also, see my last post of 03-01-2007 in Daily Facts.

Jono

JonoBN41: Yea the ceremony went great. I heard reports that Doc was so overwhelmed by what we had done as a chapter, that he was in tears. Most brothers stayed downstairs because trying to cram 80+ people into the hallway would have been impossible. Also Dirghalli was born in 1925 which would put him at 81 (?).

john1082: Look forward to it.

EM1843: Money! You know we love that.

Lastly, I just posted to our chapter website the Epsilon-Mu March Newsletter which has a small alumni spotlight section for Dirghalli. (In case any of you are interested.)

Brothers,

The ceremony for Brother Dirghalli really was amazing... I was really happy the way everything turned out. I have been in recent contact with Dr. Dirghalli, and he has stated it as one of the best nights ever for him. Also, his attendance at our Initiation only 3-4 weeks later meant the world to Epsilon-Mu, along with Grand High Alpha Ed Leonard's presence. It was truly a spectacle!

BTW, thanks alot for the check EM1843 The chapter greatly appreciates it, and it will go to good use. Our campaign for the new Dirghalli Library Conference Room has been amazing thus far, and our original goal of $7500 was far surpassed, as we currently sit just over $10,000. If any brothers are interesting in donating, please let me know at EMHighRho@yahoo.com... your name and EM # will proudly be displayed on a plaque honoring all donors. Thank you again gentlemen!

In ZAX,
Wilfredo

Speaking of Mr Leonard,

He was gracious enough to have sent his regards from you all when he was here in Columbus a couple weekends ago. He was met with a groan about as loud as the applause was for him.
Cheers,
John

Just out of curiosity, what programs did you use to do the website?

Sure, it should be in the new cross and crescent (hopefully our gamma was able to get that to nationals!)

As for the donations, I didn't mean to post your "EM #", rather I meant you "Zeta #" The plaque will be very nice, and it will contain names and zetas from across the nation! Let me know if you're interested in donating at EMHighRho@yahoo.com

oh... and GO GATORS!

It appears they are using wordpress for the content management. I am not sure if they are using anything else for their backend. I am not sure if they custom did the front end interface, or used a template, regardless the page looks good.

oh yea, sorry. Our webmaster was the original poster, and he could tell you all about the website. My knowledge goes only as far as simple HTML though, so I'm useless in that regards...

As an uninformed brother I had no idea who Doc was until I happened to spot his bio flipping through Peyser's section on Presidents. He has had an amazing life from what I have read, been places and seen things that I can only read about in history books. Amazing what he has accomplished.

The only reason I stopped to read his bio when I was flipping through was his crazy hair, then I noticed his name and remembered this thread. I have to say, that hair is awesome.

Brother Earp,

I want to personally (and publically, I suppose) thank you for your contribution to the chapter. I speak for the whole chapter when I say we greatly appreciate it, and we will allot it appropriately to the Dirghalli Library/Conference Room. Thank you again!

Wilfredo Herrera
