Western Carolina is coming back

Beta Zeta at Western Carolina is coming back I believe next year. Their alumni have been working their butts of to try to bring them back and the unviersity has allowed them to return.
This chapter was very strong and considered the best at the school. Western Carolina is a very interesting school hidden in a secluded but beautiful part of the mountains.
I visited WCU two years ago and told people I was a Lambda Chi, everybody told me great things and stories about Lambda Chi's there and they really wanted them back. Well now they are coming back and its very good for Lambda Chi Nationally, Beta Zeta, WCU, and Lambda Chi Alpha chapters in North Carolina. Next, we need to get our chapters at Duke or UNC-Wilmington back.

Possible return to UNC-Wilmington

I saw this article and decided to post it here since you all are talking about expansion in North Carolina.

On behalf of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, the Office of the Dean of Students has decided over the next two academic years to invite the three original chapters back for expansion on campus. In addition, the university will invite Alpha Tau Omega which attempted expansion in 2003. This expansion did not occur due to a negative vote from the Interfraternity Council at that time. In the Fall of 2007, the university will extend an open invitation all NIC fraternities to meet our interest of bringing two additional national organizations to UNCW. The Office of the Dean of Students, the IFC President and the NIC support open fraternity expansion at UNCW. The Office of Greek Affairs will work diligently in supporting the above mentioned fraternities. The order of invitation will go as follows: Tau Kappa Epsilon, Delta Sigma Phi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Alpha Tau Omega. This initial expansion phase will start in spring 2005 and will be completed by the fall semester of 2006. During the spring of 2007, we will assess our current standing and determine our direction toward additional expansion. Ultimately, we have set a goal of 15 thriving fraternities involving at a minimum of 15% of the male undergraduate enrollment. The University of North Carolina Wilmington is looking forward to strengthening its fraternity system. In support of the NIC Standards, we are confident this step will assist in creating a fraternity system that promotes academic success, service and philanthropy in the community, leadership development, and social skill development. Building good men today builds an even greater university in the future. We look forward to working with our students, alumni, and other interested constituencies in moving ahead with new and bold initiatives.

I'm glad to hear that they're coming back! I haven't heard about this yet. Do you know what the chapter will be doing for housing? Their house was sold when they left (and is now being used as apartments), so I'm curious as to whether they'll be purchasing a new house off-campus somewhere, or if they'll try to move into the Greek Village that just opened on-campus.

They were definitely one of the top fraternity chapters on campus. It's so good that they're going to be able to return.

UNC-Wilmington's greek scene is very weak, no wonder why they are trying to change some things up and to add other fraternities to the mix. The school has 15,000 students and it is growing very fast because of the increase in national exposure and increase in number of out of state applicants, so I believe with hard work and the right promotion the greek scene at UNC-W will vastly improve.
This school has top programs in marine biology, psychology, and video/entertainment related majors.
Lambda Chi Alpha got in trouble with hazing I think around 5 years ago, they also had risk management problems so the school kicked them out and our nationals took their charter. They had a good chapter at UNC-W until this happened.
Wilmington, NC is booming, the school has national appeal, the downtown is historic and beautiful and the entertainment industry is taking off in Wilmington. Overall, if this school really does want to make the fraternity system better then this would be a great place to go back to but I would look into this very closely.

Smile

I was at a friends house this weekend and I was wearing letters. This girl comes up to me and ask me what chapter I'm from and I tell her..she tells me she's from WCU. Then she starts raving about how everyone loves and misses Lambda Chi's there..she had nothing but good things to say about them...I thought that was awesome..I cant wait until the come back to WCU..my older brother was a Sigma Phi Epsilon up there. When I told him I was gonna go greek he was kinda worried..hahahaha...until I told him I was going Lambda Chi...2weeks later he donated some money to our once colony..hahahahaha....I really can't wait to see Beta Zeta back so I can finally meet the chapter.

How suprised was I to be bored at work and see a thread about us coming back on the forums. Just a news update: December 1st 2006, 11 brothers were initiated into the bond by our Alumni, and by a couple of chapters in NC. Our Website is www.wculambdachi.4t.com that is temporary before we switch to a better service provider. As to a house or moving into the village. At the current time more than half of the chapter lives in off campus housing; thus we will not be moving into the village this year, and hopefully ever. I feel it is a rip-off and gives campus leverage over your organization.
