States you wouldn't visit based on movies you have seen.
Obviously this is tongue and cheek . . . but . . .
Ok Minnesota, the movie Fargo has forever made you guys twisted and freaky . . . no way I would visit.
The entire Midwest . . . I am not sure where Children of the Corn and Jeepers Creepers were actually supposed to be . . . so just to avoid being hacked up by little kids in the corn fields that have nothing else to do in your undeveloped part of the nation . . . the entire region has to be avoided.
The movie Wrong Turn Where was that Virgina? W. Virginia? Kentucky? One of those sick inbred areas? Anyway . . . no inbred southerners that like to hack up poor campers for me . .. Damn whats with mountain people and the South?

Watching the Disney version of Robin Hood makes me not want to visit New Jersey, because the Sherriff reminds me of James.

I used to think that way too about the Midwest. Children of the Corn really freaked me out, and but when I actually visited the Midwest I realized it wasn't so bad at all.

Well, Canada is definitely not a real country. I'm not sure what it is.

The remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre did not endear me to Texas, particularly. Boys Don't Cry was not particularly helpful in terms of marketing Nebraska in a positive light, either

Err ... I thought Fargo is in North Dakota? Did they move or something?
ETA. Never mind, this is redundant, as someone else mentioned it before me

Well, technically, we could call it disputed territory. That would PROBABLY mean we'd have to fight France for it. That would mean one of us (I say Tom, I think they could understand him) would have to fly over to France with a cap gun, gain entrance into where ever Chirac is staying, point the gun at him, he'll wave a white flag faster than David Guest to Liza, and call it a day.
So to make a long story short, Canada, through France, would be our bitch.
But of course, they already are......so I guess that refutes my theory......
lol ya know I love ya Canucks....you're still #1 at being North of the United States.

Re: States you wouldn't visit based on movies you have seen.
yeah - fargo is in north dakota (that's where i'm at right now)
but the movie was filmed in minnesota - plus only one scene takes place in fargo.
no - we dont see very many woodchippers although we have an 8' tall statue of marge made out of wood chips at our historic fargo theatre.
but yes, it is a flat, empty, wide open space. and yes we have way too much snow.
but i guess that if i hadn't been from here, the movie would definately keep me away.

I always made an assumption that Stephen King's "It" was filmed in New England area, as he is from NE. So yeah, when I visited the NE states several years ago, I kept thinking of clowns
I'm surprised that no one is opposed to New York City. You know, after all the 'incidents' happening in NYC: Godzilla, Deep Impact, Armageddon, Devil's Advocate, Friends episodes, etc etc ... LOL
