Lionsgate and National CineMedia's Fathom are bringing Dirty Dancing back to the big screen- with brand new 35mm prints with enhanced picture and sound - in a special event on May 1 & 2, 2007 to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary. Theatergoers will be treated to a never-before-seen, 20-minute exclusive look inside Dirty Dancing featuring a collection of interviews from key people who brought the film to life, a look back on the impact of this modern classic and a glimpse into the Dirty Dancing London stage production.

The closest theater showing it is 2 1/2 hours away I was too young to see it in theaters the first time. It was the only movie I owned on video in Australia, so all of my flatmates knew every word after a few weeks.

I auditioned for it here in NYC. Was a very fun audition! I didn't make it, obviously, but was surprised at the number of "older" people getting through (which since I was maybe 26 at the time, I would guess they were late 20s early 30s making the cuts).

Yeah, I really need to be reminded that that movie came out 20 YEARS AGO!!!!! I hate getting old (although I know it beats the alternative). Anyone remember the Friends episode where Joey talked about the "deal" that he and God had worked out regarding Joey turning 30?

just found out last year it was filmed in VA where i live, about 2 1/2 hours away from Richmond. you can take the DD tour, stay in the actual rooms, it looks exactly the way it did in the movies. i plan to go there for my belated honeymoon this summer! the website is www.mountainlakehotel.com

It's a great movie that I can watch over and over again, but now that I'm older I'm realizing how freaking cheesy it is. I mean, come on!
