Thumbs up Finding Surprises!!!

While trying to clean out crap in My Abode, what a suprise.

Found a Coat of Arms(form 25) signed by The Colonization Zeta. 1966. Had George S Sig on it! Picture of the Original BX (Local) Brothers, went ASAP to get Frames!

Also found the Chartering Booklet to LXA IHQ requesting Chartering, 1968 along with some Pixs of me in a afro. Damn, I was good looking and had a lot of Hair!

LX Z Alum Golf Tourney Sat. Damn, I am so sore and stiff. The Old Farts tied with the last placed team, but We Pared the course. Moral Victory for Old Farts!

Afro? Tom Earp? Same post?

OK, you know what you have to do....

...find a scanner and post it.

Otherwise, we'll have to have a LXA GC Roadtrip to KC and do it ourselves.

WOW

Went throught my in-laws garage over the weekend.

When the UNC chapter was originally closed in 1989, I grabbed everything I could from the chapter - composites, trophies, etc...to safeguard them.

I didn't realize how much stuff I had - I thought I had two composites - I found seven. Many trophies.

Took them all over to the house Sunday to return them to the new chapter - they were thrilled.

It'll take a bit of Windex and elbow grease, but they should all clean up just fine!

Lightbulb

As You all know, My Father Passed away Two Weeks ago today.

With all of the items that I am getting, I thought I better throw junk so I can make more room for what I will be getting.

I pulled this box down from a closet and Walla!

Found My College Sheep Skin, Alpha Phi Omega Certificate, And Last But Not Least, My Original LXA-LXZ Certificate!!!!!!

Lee Tuttle was the Main Signature on it and that was before George Spaysk became our Grand Leader. George S was only a Field Dude, (TS) then. Head TS of course.

I just sat down and cried for having found something that was so important to Me from 1969 when We were Chartered!

God, so many Years ago but just like yesterday.

I really have to get out the old Hammer and Nails to put These on My Walls some place

I have so many important Items from the "OLD DAYS", and The Paintings of The Coat of Arms that Jono did for Me.

BX(1964)Pictures, LXA Colonization in (1965), and Of course (1969) Chartering!

40 Years of Loving, Meeting and working with My Brothers from All Over!!!!

Much like pulling old stuff out of the back of a closet, I'm pulling this thread out of the far back of the board.

In the last two years I've gotten married and become a father, in addition to having become a true Christian. I also have become quite a different person from who I was back during my college days. One of the first thing I found was a copy of an old Lambda Chi Alpha ritual practice booklet. I read through it and was amazed how much I didn't pay attention to back in the day. The ritual really is amazing when you read over it again as a more mature adult.

I never put away my paddles. They were up in my old apartment and are now up in the den of our house. I have five of them -- four from little brothers (Jason, Joe, Steve and George) and one from when I was High Beta and stepped in to be the associate educator when the then High Kappa couldn't fulfill his duties (hey, we were a chapter of 7 actives back then!).

I also never put away the Lambda Chi Alpha shotglass I was given by my grand big brother when I was intiated. It's still with my collection (I have over a hundred shotglasses from all over the place).

I also recently found:

-My old initiation certificate.
-A certificate of service from the university for serving as IFC secretary
-A certificate of service from the university for serving as IFC president
-A certificate from a local senator congratulating me for graduating
-The above-mentioned ritual practice booklet
-Some old pictures of me with my big brother when we were in Honolulu for the UTEP/Univ. of Hawai'i basketball game
-Some old pictures of me and some of the brothers on our trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico

Again, I never put a lot of stuff away. I still have most of it prominently displayed in my den so there wasn't THAT much to find, but I'm glad for what I did.

Recently our Alumni discovered our original charter from 1923, and our recolonization charter from 1984(?), I think thats right, some old pictures, boxes of files, and some other good stuff in some guys basement. They have fallen under my care while I am active. I am very excited they are back in our possession.

Im having my mother dig through my dad's old stuff in our attic to look for some of his old swag. He gave me his active pin but of course thats not good enough for me. She said she had some old LCA stuff in a box somewhere. He won't notice.

I am still looking for my PED, with my bid card in it. I have the sinking feeling I let someone borrow it and its lost forever. Then again its probably under my bed or hiding in some corner of my room.

A while back our former Hi Pi had a friend who owned a picture frame shop, and remember he was a Lambda Chi, she said she had something he should come in and see. Turns out it was our original charter from 1946, and some one brought it in to get framed and never picked it up. But we don't even know where our other charter is from our recharter in the 80's. It just disappeared.

I know the one from the 80s was around when I was first active. Scott Johnson and Bill McGlashan lived in the house and it was there. That was 12 years ago though. I'm not sure where it would be now. Bill is still in El Paso, but Scott has been in Baltimore for years so I'm sure he wouldn't know.

It's probably proudly displayed in some other fraternity's house. Bastards.

I would like to thank Nu-Zeta for defacing our original charter in 1985(?). Poor thing...

Ah, the Old Stuff!

Where did I put it, did I lose it?

Finding mine is a treasure to me as it is for each of us I am sure.

When one finds it and just sits and looks at it, what memories does it bring back and what of the Brothers that were there when you were and were so close to you in Your Pledge or NA Class.

History is the life of each of us, ergo, finding the buriel place of Warren Cole who was only one person and while important is still one person. The actual Founddrs of each Chapter is also important and should be remembered.

What is remebered each time that we see Our Ritual that goes back so far (Less than 100) years is still important. My Brothers whether it be My Zeta, LX, it is still important for all of the Brothers I have been able to had the pleasure to meet and know.

Save and keep. It is your heratige, you may have Family as in a Son who wants to know, Oh and a Daughter! She too can be a member of a GLO!

I will never lose My LXA items again!

My entire associate class consisted of just two guys -- myself and Christopher Leialoha Mielke. We were 5, but one went into the military after his associate semester and never came back around for initiation. Another was actually named Alex Rodriguez (no, not that one) and wound up being in the next class.

I'll tell you this though, it wound up making Mielke and I into good friends as well as fraternity brothers. Now we're both married with kids of our own, and he lives in Colorado/Japan/Alaska/Iraq or wherever the army has him this week, but he's still one of the guys who comes to mind when I think back to the active days.

I have some hilarious pictures of us from the trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico and of us acting like morons at a few parties. I'm glad I never throw anything away.
