What was your first RIDE???
What is the first car you owned? (Make, Model, Year, Color)
Whether your parents bought it or you paid for it yourself;
Was it everything that you dreamed? OR
Was it rust bucket on wheels that simply got you from point A to point B???

1997 Chevy Cavelier LS
Teal.. and 4 door.
I named it "My Baby"
I was going half on the Baby... with my parents
Not a rust bucket at all! Baby lasted me from 2000-2005... I cried when the engine locked up while I was driving to Nashville...
Good times!

1999 Mitsubishi Galant-black
Her name was Faith, because I bought her on faith! I needed a car! LOL
I got her in 2000 so she was relatively new, 15,000 miles on her at the time of purchase. She was a beauty. It was the year that they changed the body style on the Galants, so she was gorgeous, to me anyway.

1995 Dodge Shadow, purple
"Sugarplum"
Sugarplum ran like a dream for all of the 6 months I had her, until she fell victim to the Cincinnati Car Theft ring.
Ever walk out to where you parked your car and find a brick and glass waiting for you??? Yeah, me, during my senior year of HS. So not a fun experience. And to make matters worse, they dropped some pictures I got developed at the Target I bought them at, and left a cassette tape in my car - "Get It How You Live" How appropriate.

1985 Toyota Celica Hatchback
Her name was Vanessa
Vanessa ran just fine until her accident, then she was gone forever.
I got Vanessa for $150. A Toyota dealership in my area was having a sale and they were marking 6 cars down to $99. When the gates opened you had to run to the car you wanted and hop in to the driver seat. They would come around and mark the cars down and you would pray that your car was one of the $99 ones. When they marked it down you had to decide right there if you wanted it or not. The first car they went to was the one my dad was in and they marked it down to $99. So it ended up being $150. That is how I paid for my first car.

1980 Black Datsun 200SX.
My Mom bought it for me after a friend of the family said he would give her a good deal.
It was a car and it was mine, that was good enough for me, lol. Plus, I didn't have to ride the bus anymore.
It drove OK but it was kind of loud. It didn't have heat, so I drove with a blanket in the car the entire winter. Luckily with the blanket and the heat off the engine, I wasn't too cold. I did have AC which was good.
I believe I drove it one year, then my brother got his hands on it and literally drove the car into the ground over the next two years.

brown 81 Datsun 300 station wagon. Mum bought it for me and named it Bessie. I got me from point to point b. It went to hell in a handbasket in the spring of 1994. It died in Arlington, VA on my way to work.
Glad I lived on a bus line!

Nissan Sentra 2002 Black
Bought it myself, it was my first big purchase. Boy was it depressing to owe all of that money. (Paid it off last year though. Yay!)
Brand new, and tt was exactly what I hoped for, for the price that I was willing to pay.

'84 Chevy Cavalier, got it in '98.
Stepdad bought it off of his co-worker's mother for like $750. It was great condition since the lady was older and never drove anywhere..got a paint job at Maaco and put a CD deck in there for me as a X-mas gift and I thought I was the "hotness" lol...
Not everything I dreamed ofbut definitely got me from point A to point B without any problems plus it was in better condition than other folks..and gas was $.99 then and I could fill up the tank with $10...I sure do miss those days

My first car was a light blue 1985 Honda Civic I bought on 6/22/96. I bought it for $1200 from a private party. It was a POS; it had a CRX engine instead of a regular Civic engine. No radio either. It did have an automatic transmission, but it shifted jerkily; Honda didn't get all the bugs out on that till later models. I nicknamed it the "Adam Sandler" after his song "Ode to My Car".
I traded it in 3 weeks later for a white 1990 Civic that gave me much less problems.

Oh I love this thread!!
I had a 1995 White Mistubishi Mirage named "Priscilla", I even named my second car "Prissy"
Paid for my damn self!
Everything I dreamed, that car I used and abused and it lasted the whole time I was at Southern.
I cried like a baby traded her in in 2002 and I NEVER cry!

Okay I guess I should participate since I started this topic!!!
I want to start off by saying I suffered not having a vehicle through out high school and four years of college (SSSSSSU Baybee!).
When I graduated from Southern in Fall 2002 the 'Rents bought me a 2000 BMW 323i, BLACK (My favorite color on a car). I asked for a Honda Accord but I wasn't complaining. And I'm grown enough to not run right out and throw some rims on it... no offense to anyone but it's not my thing. I did put some tint on it and my SU ALUM plates. The ride only had 35K miles on it when I got it (It was a dealer lease)... Don't ask me how many miles are on it now... I was rolling up and down I-10 constantly in the ride from TX to LA.
Love the luxury but the up keep is MAJOR!! Don't have to do a lot to it but when something wears out, as all cars do, the parts are 'spensive! It costs $60 just to get an oil change.

My first car was a Mazda 626. I paid for it myself after my first year in college. I think it was a 91 model. Well... after a month it just stopped working!! Now I have my baby, 99 toyota corolla. He's been trustworthy thus far so I think I'll stay with him for now!
