Pee in the Cup (U. of Georgia)
A transit service will not rent buses to UGA Greeks for at least a while, according to an article in the April 4, 2007 UGA paper. The decision was prompted by behavior on buses a sorority had rented to take people to and from an event:

Comment: Can you imagine what the chapter's standards board meeting was like following that event?

Tom,
I don't think cleaning up vomit, urine and alcohol is part of the expected job duties of a bus driver.
I have my doubts about the story, based on only knowing extremely ladylike ADPis, but if the events unfolded as he claims, cleaning up what was described is beyond what should be expected.
Personally, I think the unwillingness to drive greek charters to parties may have as much to do with suddenly realizing that you might be opening up a whole new liability can of worms. What obligation would a university bus company for treating/not getting immediate treatment for a passenger with alcohol poisoning? Would the university have to assume some responsibility for underage drinking of its own students on the bus? Best avoid the whole thing: no Greek Charters.

NICE JOB, SISTERS.
That is so embarrassing. I hope HQ does something about it.

It depends on what kind of bus it is.
If it was a party bus, this kind of thing is to be expected.
Of course, don't most of these busses have restrooms?

And if they require a cop on board every bus then why didn't he do ANYTHING if they were being so "horrible"???

I missed where the cop was required. These were the drivers complaining, I think.
It was a regular campus transit bus, I think, that they used to take people 40 minutes away. I wouldn't have thought bathrooms would have been as needed as they apparently were.

These were campus buses that these girls were on. They don't have bathrooms but they don't have windows that open either. It makes absolutely no sense how they would have been able to throw cups or bottles out the windows. And if they're not allowed to to drink on the buses then why would they have cups or bottles in the first place. This article was on the front page of the Red and Black, which is known for bashing greek life on campus, ranging from running the police logs including greek affiliation, to bashing every Chi Phi after the porn incident, to basically saying all AEPi's sell drugs. I don't trust that this is all the truth. I do believe the throwing up because I heard about that from someone who was actually on the buses. It'll be interesting to see the opinions page tomorrow in the paper. It will also be interesting to see if there are any consequences for the group from national HQ or from Panhellenic Council, with an ADPi president to boot... should be an interesting couple of days in Athens.

My bad, I missed this the first time:
"Campus Transit enforces additional policies when renting to Greeks. A police officer is required on each bus, and no alcohol is allowed on the bus."
I suspect they must have been somehow remiss in their duties.
ETA: I agree with the Notmanhattan that it sounds a little fishy as far as the out the window stuff.

I don't know why people keep saying this. The windows on the busses DO open...they just keep them closed. Windows on busses HAVE to open; it's the law. Emergency exits and all that jazz. Check them the next time you ride a bus. This is definitely not saying that the alleged events DID happen, but it is a possible scenario.

The Red and Black, like most campus papers, is incredibly anti-greek. They're actually anti-tradition, anti-south, and anti-conservative too. Unfortunately, the same can be said about the Auburn Plainsman.

Thanks, GeorgiaGirl! On some level, I guess it makes sense because they don't want to create a disincentive for groups getting university police for their events. As sad as it might be, if the GLO rules didn't require it, how many college aged people would go with police service that would check IDs if they weren't required to?
