observation at recruitment parties

do any of you have any first hand knowledge of panhellenic officers or recruitment counselors observing the festivities during a recruitment party?

At NCSU, Panhellenic officers will sit in on skits during skit night. That's the only real time they are inside...they do sometimes come in before parties though...just to walk through to see things...

Yes, at Illinois, they walk around to ensure that no rules are being violated.

I believe they are in the room ONLY for the skit...they just let us know they are coming so we set out however many extra chairs...I do not think they are actually inside...unless it's raining or something and they wait in the lobby of the house.

back in the day, we only went around with our recruitment groups the first two days of recruitment, and we entered the house after the pnms did. we were escorted to the housemothers apartment, where we were offered food and drink . we were not in the part of the house where the actual party was taking place.

I think ours were there for most of the party, but I was always so busy actually doing recruitment that I didn't really notice. They sat through the skit and pref, though. I don't know what they did open house or philanthropy night.

At UGA there are two recruitment counselors at every party. They walk around making sure no rules are being violated. Panhellenic exec walks around in pairs or groups of three and visits every house every day. We keep a close eye on things.

At State, there was a pair of us at every party to cut down on dirty rushing. Worst moment: when I opened the partially cracked door to a dark bathroom and there were several members hotboxing a PNM, who was sitting on a closed toilet. We all screamed.

At UCF, there are (or at least when I was there...), there were random check-ins during parties when Pan/Recruitment Exec would do walk throughs to observe. They didn't interfere.

At Kent, the Recruitment Counselors don't sit in on the parties. They do house inspections before the parties to make sure there are no infractions. During the actual parties, they stand outside. They only enter the parties for a moment at the end to make sure that no one from their group is still inside.

I wonder how that conversation got started. "We REALLY want to talk to you somewhere quiet...oh, here's a bathroom that no one is using!"

The only time I remember seeing PH members going around is before the parties actually start on the first day (Open House). They only come to see that the decoration is the way it is supposed to be. That day the house has to look the way it usally does all year. We can have decorations but not many.
