Microsoft Office 2007 sharing?

Is it legal to loan my copy of Office 2007 to family and/or friends? If they have to register using my product key will it still work or will it cause problems with my original version? I don't want to mess up my version but it's so expensive that I really want to help out my friends and family members who need it. Thanks!

as far as i know, you only get a certain number of times you can upload the OS from the disc(s) that the set comes with... so everytime you enter that product key, that is one less time you can load it on a computer.

dont know how much that matters to you. i mean ive had to reload my whole OS before because of too much spyware/viruses. so loaning it out may not benefit you in the longrun if you need to use it again.

then again im no pc wiz. but how i'd love to get my hands on office 2k7.

It would be legal to "loan" your copy, as long as you deleted your own copy.

You can have that product key active on one computer at a time - but it conceivably could be any computer you wanted. However, you can't just say "I'm only using one at a time!" - you can only have it installed on one at any given time.

I think it is, in WA - check your local listings, but I'd rock a ewe.

i'd imagine that if you were to buy a PC anytime soon, this new Office 2K7 (doesnt it sound like a video game?) would be installed, yes?
would the same go for a Mac?

mentally i pronounce it as "ooh-wee" which i guess you'd use "an." which would be convienent, cause when you rock that ewe, you could go "ooh-wee!" BWHAHAHA im really LOL on this ish.

Illegal? Yes. Can you do it? Also yes. Right now I have a Beta of MSWord 2007 on my computer, taken from the power of the internets. You can share OS's, you can share your software, the key should not be a problem I don't think.

On previous versions it will ask you to register when you access an application. I believe that it gave you a set number of times to access an application w/o registering b4 it locked you out. You should be able to put it on your computer and register it. Your friends/family will be able to put it on their computers, but they cannot register it. Therefore, they can only use it for a limited amount of time.

OK, I am a technical idiot, but I do know this - My husband loaded our last version of Office onto his daughter's computer and it made the programs stop working on ours. So I guess that's a no - can't do it.

Additionally, we just got Office 2007 and installed it. I worked on a bunch of stuff for my alum chapter and emailed it out. No on can open it unless you download some sort of update! People can't do that on their work computers! Really sucks - is this normal when a new OS comes out?

AND! I hate the new version on the programs! All the toolbars look like cartoons and your basic things aren't there - like 'File'. I'm sure if I do some messing around, I can get everything to look decent, but it's not there like normal. I'm an admin, I'm pretty handy with Word and this version is a mess! I hate it!

To make sure it's easy for your friends when you're saving... look down at the file type and click save as word 2003 file (or something similar)

The idea is that once you learn the new way things work it'll be OMG TEH AWESOME. But I haven't played with it, and I don't like my things to change either.

Tell your family and friends to check with their offices, if they work. I bought Microsoft Office for $20 through a work-related deal, with the stipulation that I'm supposed to remove it from my computer at home if I leave my current place of employment.

I mainly wanted it for Excel -- I detest using MS Word -- but anyway you look at it, it was a deal.

It doesn't come installed on a Mac -- my old man just bought one a couple weeks ago.

Listen to this geek here. Change the extension on your doc files when saving them in MSWord 2007 to word 2003 because most people have not upgraded yet and won't be able to read the original saved file. I had to do some quick resaving when I emailed a paper to my professor last year.
