Mock Initiation?
I've noticed that several GLO's frown upon or specifically bar what they call "mock initiations" but I'd assume something like an initiation ritual has to be rehearsed in some way. What exactly is meant, then, by mock initiations? A fake ceremony making fun of the real ritual? Initiating an already initiated member as practice?

Pretending to initiate people who are pledging, then when they really think they are getting initiated you tell them you're kidding and they're still pledging.
It's used as a mind trick usually.

I've never heard of a mock initiation. I've never been through a pretend ceremony with New Members and then "haha -- this is really how it is" Initiation.
I've been through Initiation practice. It's a rehearsal. That's it.

We do mock initiation at my chapter. But its AM's intiating the actives. When my class did it we initiated our big brothers into Sigma Epsilon Chi. We had humor to the whole thing but we drew from our experiences that we had that semester...pretty much based it off our AM ceremony. And thats really the point, reverse the roles and make them try to look at what they will be going through in a different light.

We have initiation rehearsal the day before the actual initiation, just because you get rusty sometimes. But that's the only "mock" initiation that I know of.

You know that's a really interesting interpretation of "turn-around day" that I have heard of happening in various organizations. It could be a really good introduction to discussing what ritual is, prior to actually going through one.
And also, I have heard of "mock initiations" (as defined eloquently by L.O.C.K.) as a form of psychological hazing.

I've never heard of mock initiation before. Like many have already said, our chapter does a little rehearsal just before the initiation...running through the songs we use and the order things go in and stuff like that. Since we only do initiation twice a year, and most of the songs we use in intiation are only used for initiation, we tend to get rusty. But we don't do a "mock initiation." From what L.O.C.K. said, "mock initiation" just sounds like a really mean trick. I'm glad our chapter doesn't do that.

The only mock initiation we've done is a rehearsal. It's actives only, just so everyone knows their part and what order things go in.
We would never do anything like L.O.C.K. described.

I never heard of a mock initiation in my life.
Ritual is praticed and should only be that.
I am not sure what My Brother is refering to and wellllll?
Ritual and Initiation is a or supposed to be a sacred thing among each GLO and should remain the same.
While I do not collect GLO Rituals, I have read one and while it is not mine, it is somewhat close. It will stay where it is, with me and no one else.
I have heard rumors of others and that is their business only.
None of us want to see our Rituals placed anywhere but within our GLO!

I was no fool. I slept on turn-around day and left everyone alone.
