Pre-cancerous cervical problems?
Someone very close to me is having a very bad time with precancerous lesions on her cervix. Although she has had several LEEP (sp?) procedures, the lesions continue to spread. She has had yet another biopsy and will get results on Friday. We pray to God that the precancerous lesions haven't turned malignant.
Has anyone had this problem with a good outcome? We are so worried--this person is far too young to have a hysterectomy.
Please pm me if you don't want to answer on the boards!

Carnation,
While I do not know of anyone with this problem, I would like to wish the best wishes for the person you speak about, you, and all of whom who care for this person.
God bless.
Bobby

I have a friend who had pre-cancerous cells in her cervix. I'm not sure the name of the procedure she had, but it involved freezing the cells to remove them. She was very fortunate, but it was very frightening at first. Now she is the mother of three healthy children.
I hope that your friend gets well.

I have no advice for you or your friend, but I hope she is ok.

Carnation, does your friend have a history of endometriosis? Endometriosis itself is NOT cancerous, but once you're diagnosed, having checkups is terribly important! The women on both sides of my family all have it (really!), and I know of two who went for their checkup, and had pre-cancerous cells. My cousin was 29, and thought about it a week prior to having a hysterectomy; my mother was done having children, so after getting a second opinion, had a hysterectomy the next day.
Why I say this is that, PRE-cancerous isn't always dangerous, but should NOT be ignored. I know this may sound easy for me to say, but if a hysterecomy is necessary, it's better than cancer!
But most importantly, I'll be praying that your friend doesn't need ANY of this, that she's just fine!

I think of thinking of your friend and hoping that your "friend" is not one of the Carnation D's.

The biopsy turned out to be nonmalignant, thank God. She'll be going in for more LEEP next month. If the condition progresses after that, the doctor wants to do a cone biopsy.
Thank you so much for your words of support! This is really scary for someone so young.

Unbelievable. It turns out that I've had that, too. I think I was about 22-23 years old.

I have been dealing with this over the last few months. I had some not-so-good cells and ended up having to get a biopsy done. A month later I was in having a LEEP procedure...I would like to state for the record that neither one was a fun procedure! The doctor thinks that he got everything and I have to go back for a checkup in a couple months to see for sure.
