Gamma Mu Zeta closed (CU Boulder)

It is my understanding the brothers of the Boulder chapter surrendered their charter sometime last week due to declining membership.

The decimation of the greek systems at CU and CSU continue...

It is terribly painful to see a Zeta close - I've had two in the past 5 months!

That said, it appears that the Greek system at Colorado couldn't clean up its act and the closing of fraternities and sororities is the natural result of kids not behaving like grown ups and governing themselves according to the rules.

The most painful part of the whole process is that untold numbers of men may now pass thru Colorado without the opportunity to find what we have found.

God, I am sorry to have heard on Both Ends, but the problem is J and S that no mater what if they do not follow the rules, And I Say "Rules", the idealogy of said schools is a big factor in some form or another.

If one looks at the total picture, Un. Co has always been a problem along with The Cal. schools when it comes to Greeks. The problem is it is sad as it seems.

We as a Internaional Fraternity want to Be on Major Campi, it also depends on said Campi, not whether We as A Fraternity want to or not.

We have a product to sell along with any National Greek Organization.

So, who does it the best? We do of course!

But, being then best of the best is tough! We can only do what We can do!

True?

I think the chapter failed not because of the campus, but the chapter itself. They were pretty weak when I met one of their brothers at GA in '02. Many fraternities at CU are doing great, and Kappa Sigma is just colonizing there and already have around 65. A lot of the chapters there are big and have a large social schedule, and from what I heard LCA wasn't the social type and thats probably why their numbers dwindled.

We actually had a lot of members, but not a lot compared to other houses. A sorority/fraternity is suppose to be based on sisterhood/brotherhood, and as long as it has at least 60 members, i think the chapter should be still kept standing. What is messed up is that nationals knew that we were not at quota before initiation, but they initiated us anyways and told us a month later that they will place us on alumnae status while they do recruitment. Recruitment failed because they couldnt get enough people so our chapter will be closed down. Should i be paying for their mistakes? What sucks is that we cant join another sorority. They should at least let us do that.

I take it new poster on this site with one post that you are a member of a Sorority. If that is the case, why post on the LXA thread and not your own.

Sororites work in different ways than Fraternities, but we also have to be equal or within 10 % to numers of others on campus.

Answer soon or your post will be deleted.

Nice Tom. Sometimes it isn't the frat or sororities fault at all. Environments change, attitudes change, administration change.

I don't know what happened specifically, but it isn't always from not following the rules.

Many people are brainwashed in our fraternity to automatically assume that if a chapter shuts down, then they were not following the "rules". Many chapters have an automatic rush, a great environment and don't realize how hard some chapters have to work to keep their heads above water.
